Can D2 steel be blued using something like Oxpho-blue or lime juice or something like that or is it TOO stainless. Was wondering if anyone has done it or can tell me how to do it. Thanks

Take steel , q-tip , acid etchtant , gun blue.

Do it outdoors so you dont breath the fumes.

Dab on etch with q-tip ( thouroughly clean steel first of fingerprints etc) let sit for a few seconds , dab on gun blue, try to make the finish as even as possible , may have to repeat process.

Spray with windex to nuetralize acid , rinse , dry , oil to cure overnight.

You will have a colored finish but it will wear off or scratch off in time.

Steel is not blue or dark.
Bluing does very little to prevent rust, and in some cases (cold bluing) it can promote rust.
Bluing of any type wears terribly.
There are PVD/nitride coatings that hold up better, but they can not be done at home.
Paint (Ceracoat, etc.) wears quickly. Platings cuch as nickel or hard chrome wear better and can help prevent rust.
In light of the above, I can not understand why people persist in trying to darken knife blades.
