Another silly topic:
What I did was just an experiment and was resulted nice:

2 parts of hydrogenperoxside
1 part Nitric-Acid
1 part Methanol
20 gram Cupper

D2 is well agitated for 15 min. Result grayish blue and not so dark. My last blade will look handsome... :D

Wow, when I looked at an angle in the sun the surface of the steel has micro cristals on it and has a rainbow effect. What I did was super....

are we getting a picture or what!!??? :)

By the way, I'm getting some wood ready for you. Do you have a saw? I'm going to send you a couple of blocks and some scales....

Hi mitch,
As soon as I buy a camera will post the pics of my experiments and knives I made this week, and will buy camera this week hopefully. I dont have a saw but I have whole furniture factory in my service  ( thanks to my friendship with my neighbour). They have any machine you can think of... Thanks for your concern. ..
The blueing was not all my thought, I saw peroxide blueing (in months) thread. I thought I can speed up by adding acid to the solution. My mom assisted the process (as she is a chemical engineer). Now we work on to make the cupper oxide coating more durable. We will try to make more dense cupper solution by adding cupper-sulphate.

Best wishes

Dont regard this thread. I repeated the experiment with different ingredients: The control group was 20 ml peroxide and 15 ml nitric acid. Etching result was very similar to what I did this morning. Then I included methanol, the methanol slowed the process but result was the same. Then 20 ml H2O2 and 20 ml Nitric with copper. The solution turned green, but the etch was the same. I was doing this on an iron table and the copper solutin spilled. It etched my table instantly and now I have a green table but the D2 sample is the same blueish grey.

The experiments contuniue.

ps: All the purpose of this experiment was to blue the D2 without hot-blueing and in minutes. Do anyone know a way to blue steel without heating it or without waiting for days?
