Blueing the pocket clip for lower profile???

My wife had a thought the other day. I was putting on some dark pants the other day. As I put my MTSocomElite auto in my pocket she said the shiny pocket clip really stands out. Normally I wear my shirt out and this isn't a problem. The wife then said I should use some gun blueing (she's a genius) to reduce the "signature" of the clip. I've used a product called 44/40 on guns and it really turns the steel BLACK. Have any of you tried this before? I'll post pics after I do it but I need to know the size of the screws that hold on the clip. Any other suggestions?

Most pocket clips are stainless steel, which does not take blueing. There are other ways of darkening or coating SS but not by traditional blueing, or the cold blueing like 44-40.

I use skateboard grip tape. Not only does it subdue the clip, it also aids in deploying the knife when pulled from the pocket by adding some grip to it.

I am not 100% sure but I think most of the Microtech pocket clips are made of Titanium.
I don't think you can blue it either. you can get black clips however. I bought a few Ti clips that were made by Microtech and they are black coated. I got them from Koval Knives. Anyway, it is something to look into.

Would it be possible to give a stainless clip a BT2 type teflon coating? I really the clip coating on the newer benchmades. I'm sure it's possible, is it just too expensive for an individual to have them coated?

Don't know about the SOCOM Elite, but the screws on my LCC are T-6, and UDT are T-5. Heat them up with a hair dryer first!

Don't know about you guys,, but I Want my pocket clips to contrast with my clothing...

Dark pants - Silver Clip
Light pants - Dark Clip

Geez,, come on,, how else are we knife people gonna pick each other out from the Fungus Amongus??

I say Wear it Proudly,, unless you want to Conceal..

Damn damn damn damn damn! I should have realized that about the stainless. Maybe I'll try something anyway... I'll have to think some more.

As far as noticing other knuts out there, I notice even if the clip perfectly matches their clothes. Part of sizing people up is noticing/conjecting what's in their pockets
