Blueing your Busse?

Hi All,

I see a lot of stripped and blued Busse and Kin on here and I love the looks. What does blueing do? Is it a type of patina that provides some rust resistance or purely aesthetic? Is the blueing agent readily available and easy to do yourself? Does anyone want to send me a blued Busse? I'll even pay for shipping:D

I blued my TGLB quite easily with a cold blueing product. However, I stripped my Boss Jack today, and it wouldn't take any of the blueing.

Thanks guys. I wanted to try it out on some infi but I may hold off for now.

I know that 101 will take a nice patina but im not sure how much luck you would have trying to blue infi... worth a shot though I guess

This used to be the easy way to test your Busse at home if you weren't sure your knife had INFI: A2 would blue and INFI wouldn't.

I cold blued a few knives and after I noticed it wearing off on some fruit I was cutting. Oranges and apples both did it with different knives. Gross. Maybe I did it wrong, but I won't blue any more of my knives because I have a tendency to use all my knives (anything Boss Jack size and down) with food at some point. Best patina in my opinion is created from actually use. But I understand the enjoyment of customizing stuff.

I think that Coupchox (SP) had a pretty good result with his SarQ if I remember correctly. But I don't know what kind of bluing he used.
