Just s few questions.

What is a good blueing product?
Do I do this last or before attaching the handle?
I plan on sanding some of the blueing off to get a nice grayed look(I hope).

The sequence in wich you blue somethign really depends on what you are bluing. Typically, bluing would be the last thing you do right before assembly. Brownells has some great bluing supplies.

What I am concerned with is that after blueing. I will alter the finish working on the slab handles. How tough is the blueing?
maybe I'll just finish and let the 01 stain naturally.

Are we talking about damascus on this knife? Generally a knife that is blued will completely dissasemble.

Maybe I dont understand your question? Give us more details.

I am using 01 steel. What my concern is that when I am shaping the purpleheart slabs I will remove the blued finish in the process. Wouldn't glueing on the slabs and shaping them remove the finish? Hey thats another question. How far in the finishing should I go before putting on the slabs? 600 grit or go higher? maybe I should learn more about blueing first?

you should completely finish the knife.... except for maybe a fnal buffing, dissasemble the whole thing. blue the steel, then re-assemble
Ask IG he just finished one with some hot blue work on it

That is the way it is done. Complete the knife, disassemble, hot blue the parts that you want and glue that baby together.

Dont Loveless bolts need ground down? I may wait theb blue a second knife ;)
Thanks guys.

Yes, they do but leave that for last. Fit the slabs to the bolster or guard and grind flush or to the your perspective. Then blue guard/ bolsters, reassemble and grind the pins or screw flush with slabs.
