hello everyone

I have a job where I allowed to listen to stuff while working.

my current bluetooth headset is losing battery life by the day it seems.

I'm looking for a recommendation for my next purchase. Please feel free to suggest any and all that you've had good experiences with, as well as stuff to avoid.

if I'm better off just buying a set of minimalist headphones to jack into my phone I'd take suggestions there too.

thanks!

I have a pair of shokz Bluetooth bone conduction headphones that I recently purchased used from my sister. I didn't know if I would like them but she needed a couple bucks and I took a chance. I find the pretty comfortable and once sound settings are adjusted for them they are very nice indeed. If you have a big head like me they still work unless you have a great deal of hair. I like the feeling of open ear canals and ambient sound being only slightly muffled. They don't sound as loud as some headphones can but plenty enough for me. The vibration from heavy bass when turned very loud can feel quite strange at first, it tickles your ear hairs. The battery life is actually better than advertised in my experience. One amazing thing is you can wear ear plugs while wearing them and still hear your music just fine and even answer phone calls!! I is said you can still damage your hearing by listening to music at too high volume even with this type of headphones. Oh and they are comfortable enough to easily forget you are wearing them, however they do give a bit of pressure to the area just in front of your ear canal but that is easy to get used to after wearing a couple times. I hope this helps.

A couple of years ago I bought the Sony WHXB900N Noise Cancelling Headphones when Amazon had them on sale. The noise cancelling feature is not as good as the really expensive models (so I have read), but the battery life is awesome. They advertise 30 hours and I've never kept track, but it definitely is a long time. They're quite comfortable, also. I use them mostly for podcasts, ebooks, and YouTube, and occasionally music. They are not cheap, but you can easily spend twice a much if you want even better performance. My wife has a the JVC HA-S23W Wireless Headphones which cost a tenth as much as the Sonys. They are on-ear rather than over-the-ear like the Sonys.

Here is a similar thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bluetooth-headphones.1765956/

This is what I wrote there:

"Do you need to talk, too ? Say when you receive a call while listening to music ? I’ve been using “Poly Voyager Focus UC” throughout the pandemic (since Apr 2020) for everything, meetings, music, phone calls, etc.”. Hold the charge for more than a day, reasonably compact, noise canceling, and not crazy expensive. They connect to both phone and laptop in parallel, and you can fold the mic out of the way."

They are still going strong, I can recommend them.

I’ve been using the Sennheiser Momentum 3 for a year or two. Some are made in Germany. Mine were made at that new manufacturing plant in Romania. They’re gorgeous. The leather parts still look new and feel supple, despite being used in the shop every day. They always connect in about two seconds flat. I can answer calls with the touch of one button. Volume up or down are tactile buttons on the right side. Easily cancels the noise of running sanders and grinders.

I don’t have much to compare them to. It was a buddy who recommended them to me. He said he ordered six different sets, tried them, and returned the others. Best sound quality I’ve ever experienced. They’ve improved my shop time so much-I’ve always said I’ll just buy another set if these ever give up the ghost.

You work around spinning things that can kill you. NO CORDS!!! ;)

I have been very happy with the Skullcandy wireless earbuds.
The first ones I bought were the JIB that I paid $25 for, a few months back I temporarily misplaced them and upgraded to the Sesh Evo model for $50.

I had no complaints with my old JIB pair, but the new ones are much better.
I get 4.5 hours in each earbud ( not too far from the 5 they advertise ), a few extra charges in the case itself, and the case charges in 45 minutes.
I'm not an expert when it comes to sound quality, but I've got no complaints.
When I pull them out they instantly turn on and start connecting, and they auto shutoff when I put them back in the case.
I've dropped the case a number of times and it hasn't broken, and I even dropped one of my earbuds in some scolding hot water which I thought killed it but didn't.

I only bought the Skullcandy wireless earbuds because the truck stop where I work maintenance sells them, but I have been very happy and would actually go online and order them specifically if they no longer did.

Unfortunately I have hereditary hearing loss from my dad's side of the family. I started wearing hearing aids several years ago and got some that have blue tooth. my provider showed me how to pair up my hearing aids with my phone so I can use it for a hands free device. I can also use them to listen to music and pod casts. Fidelity isn't the greatest, but good enough for me. The phone app has a feature to increase or decrease the ambient noise so I can listen to music, but still hear (or drown out) people and things around me.

Listening to music or podcasts for 2-3 hours per day doesn't seem to drain the battery too much faster. A set of batteries run about 70 hours.

I've found good sound quality even in lower cost headsets. I'm not saying as good as a $300 pair, but bass was clear and booming while high notes were not tinny.
HOWEVER, those under $35 have a tendency to fall apart.
Never had a problem with battery life, listening to a few hours here and there.

I have these as well and love them. Battery life has been really good so far. I've never run them from full to empty, but I run with them five hours a week or so, charge them once, but the battery has never been below 40% in my regular usage, so maybe eight-hour life or more. They're very comfortable and allow ambient sound. Very minimalist, but secure. They're not coming off with normal vigorous physical activity save wrestling or something like that. I like that they're connected and that I don't need to worry about them falling out of my ears and vanishing.

I recently purchased a pair of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 for around $80, and I've been very happy with them.

In particular, the noise cancellation/allowance.. helps me keep aware of my surroundings when jogging.
