Blunt tipped neck knives

Any suggestions on a blunt tipped neck knife? The reason I'm asking is after carefully reading the California Knife laws it seems that it is illegal to carry a concealed dirk or dagger. They define a dirk or dagger as "a knife or other instrument with or without a handguard that is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon which may inflict great bodily injury or death". This excludes blunt tipped knives which cannot be reasonably interpreted as a "stabbing weapon".

I'm looking for something light (4 oz. max including sheath) and handy. Probably more for emergency use than self-defense use. So far the candidates are the CRKT Bear Claw and Emerson La Griffe White Water Rescue model. I'd prefer a pure straight edge (true sheepfoot blade) though. Perhaps I should look for a custom solution? Price is flexible depending on the quality up to $200.

I thought about a folding knife, but I think they'd be heavier than a fixed blade solution.

Take a look at Mission, they have a blunt tip small dive knife that would work well as a necker... I think it's even available in Ti if you are worried about weight and don't plan on using it a lot.

Other than that I'd check with a some of the custom makers around here. They do great work, and should be more than happy to help you out.

Emerson has a LaGriffe with blunt tip called the White Water something??!

Sorry missed your Emerson choice.

Just going to point out that there was a case in Cali that they try'd to call a rescue a stabbing weapon. I'll see if I can find the link to the post.
