Blunted 20 knives !

They must have been using 420J2 dive knives for the cutting.

This reminds me of a video I saw on the news some years ago when I lived in the SF bay area. Some tourists were out on a boat watching a mother orca with her baby near the Farallons, a well-know white shark location. A white shark estimated to be 17 feet long showed up, and before you could blink, mama orca bit the white shark cleanly in half. There were two halves of the shark in the water. Don't mess with an orca.

There is a pod of shark eating orcas off the BC coast, the young ones kill and chomp up the sharks, allowing the old ones with blunted off teeth to catch the chunks that sink. Its a co-ordinated effort as the oldest whales have almost no teeth left.

Ever cut shark skin?
the dried skin of some sharks was commercialized as sandpaper, before the advent of modern sandpaper.o_O
stab a shark a couple times and your edge is pretty much shot :(

Who said "Don't go near the water " ??

I have dealt with sharks a couple times (spearfishing, we ate them afterwards) and they are tough. There is also another fish which name I have no idea in English (called PEZ BALLESTA in spanish) which doesn't have any fish scales and the skin also resembles sandpaper. They are pretty dumb (no natural predators I know off), with a power full jaw and human like teeth (they cut mono like butter, don't get your fingers anywhere near their mouth) but they are good eat! So when we find some, we get a bunch of them and then peel them off to make filets. We use pliers for that, and sharp knives!

I try not to do this, but sometimes I can't help myself.

If you're doing it on a shark it's a necropsy NOT an autopsy!

Cool article, though. Orcas are more than a little scary up close and personal. Glad they don't have any predatory interest in humans.
