Blur: 440 or Sandvik?

I've been going back and forth between getting a Cyclone or a Blur as a new EDC knife (I've settled on Kershaw, now I just gotta pick one!). I see that knifeworks.com lists the Blur as having a 440A blade, but Kershaw's website says that it's the same blade steel as the Cyclone (Sandvik 13C26). Can anyone confirm what type of steel is used for the Blur's blade?

I actually think the mini-cyclone is growing on me a bit...

Kershaw switched from 440A to Sandvik 13C26 a few months ago.
You'd have to speak to the seller you're dealing with to find out which steel is in the specific knife you're buying.

Recommendation: Buy the S30V blur. S30V is generally recognized as superior to the other two steels, and by a wide margin.

In fact, I just received the new Knifecenter newsletter, and they have a deal on the S30V Blur. www.knifecenter.com

There are other good sellers, I'm sure, where you can find the knife at a good price.

IMHO, the S30V Blur is a great knife.
Perfect size, profile, and weight for EDC.

Get one in SG2. I think its the best one personally.

I have 3 of the Cyclones, all with the Sandvik 13C26 steel. I can't see anything wrong with that steel.

Personally, I'd go with the Sandvick if you're comparing it to 440A. However, Kershaw makes some good knives (Or versions of ones with 440A), that have S30V, VG-10, or SG2 (I'm probably missing a tip steel, but you get the idea).

Not that note, though, a good friend of mine rolled the blade edge of his "Needs Work" (Sandvick steel). He feels it was the wharncliff blade design & not necessarily the steel.

The Scallion is a favorite of my oldest daughter. Does anyone know if they have or will be going to Sandvick on those or are they staying with 440A?

The Sandvik 13C26 Blurs should be marked July '07 or later.

I think it's been mentioned that the Scallions will be sticking with 420HC.

More info here.

I was going back and forth between the Mini Cyclone and Blur as you are. I ended up getting the Cyclone TiZDP. I found a trade deal for it, and couldn't be happier. It did cost me dearly though, having to give up my Mini Ritter Grip..but again I couldn't be happier. Having gotten the Cyclone I still can't get the Blur out of my head, the SG2 keeps calling out to me. From my research you can't go wrong with the S30V, SG2 or the Sandvic 13C26. I'm leaning more towards to the SG2 myself mainly because of the earth tones, giving it a different look, but I do keep looking at the S30V. Having owned a couple Ritter Grips I am kind of partial to the stone washed blade, which seem's to make the blade harder to scratch up. Anyways if I can ever get over a Liner Lock I'm hoping to add a Blur in the not to distant future, good luck too you in whatever decision you make...you can't go wrong with a Kershaw.

The Chives and Scallions have 420HC blades and they're not getting the change over.
