Well there's your problem!

Its the internet, do you know if these two blurs had been used and abused or new out of the box? It reminds me of a commercial:

The facts are just about the majority here have seen , owned, or played with a blur. If this was in fact a "real" problem I think it would be known by now. Yes the liner lock is not as large and strong as say a zt 0350 etc... but that doesn't mean its not strong enough to use responsibly. There are far too many examples floating around of very used, well worn blurs for this to even come close to being an epidemic. I will suggest just taking all you see or hear with a grain of salt and form your own opinions through use of your own 2 models :) I know mine have been used and performed very well!

Here is the video you decide

Soo...are we supposed to trust someone that condones spine whacks on a knife designed for cutting? Last I checked you leave that business to fixed blades. Yea I agree with others on this. You can only take this with a grain of salt. I mean we don't know whether this is someone that knows how to perform routine maintenance or not. Besides if it is soo bad, why not contact kershaw and have it fixed, instead of implying because I cut myself it must be a crap knife? Jeezy Peets. When I said send it in I meant the non blem. I just realized I worded that poorly.

Oh god...that guy again. I personally don't listen to a word he says, since I've come to the conclusion that he knows nothing I find useful about knives. Given my experience with the Blurs (3 CF154, 1 SPRGRN, 2 S30V, 5 standards), I've never come across one that had lock slip, and I've checked all but one of them (a CF Blur that hasn't left the box more than once). Not a bit of movement, and certainly never a failure.

While I don't think he's being intentionally disingenuous, I do think he's not a particularly smart "user" of knives. He's shown that in other videos I've been shown of his. If I were to guess, considering that lock is slipping on both of his knives, he could have inadvertently oiled the pivots and contaminated the lock face. He also could have gotten lemons. I don't know since I can't handle those, and I'm only hazarding guesses. I'm sure he doesn't realize that he's either foolish with his knives or may have bad luck.

His conclusion is that the Kershaw Blur is not a safe knife. I don't think that's an intelligent conclusion, and I don't think that his title of "Cut My Pinky Off!" is an intelligent one. I used to subscribe to him until I started getting the very clear impression that he's (to put it at its mildest) not a very intelligent knife user.

I dont trust any folding knife period. When I use them its in the direction they are intended not forcing against the lock. Im not into the reverse grip/fighting stuff thats what my guns are for.

Okay, so what I took from this is Kershaw's blem models aren't perfect and maybe not just aesthetically impaired, but should perform perfectly and all Blurs should be spine whacked to test for proper lockup. His conclusion is that ALL Blurs are now deficient in some way.

I refuse to spine whack it because the dull edge of a knife is never good for chopping. But what do I know.

I noticed this was a blem too, but I do just want to remind everyone, that if a knife fails QC for safety reasons, we would NOT sell it. Period. Even as a blem. Not sure what the deal was with this guy's knife, but I agree that it seems to be a weird anomaly. I rarely - if ever - hear complaints about blurs.

Agreed on the anomaly. As stated before, it's not clear if he ever oiled it or disassembled or anything so it may be something else, but thank you for the clarity on QC even with blems. I just find it amazing that entire runs of a model can be categorized as unsafe by one person and the ripple effect within the masses based on watching a video.

Question to OP...Have you watched any other videos including the positive reviews of the Blur or were you only searching for "lock fail"? Just curious.

Erm...wha?

I figured as much. As for that particular knife, I'd ascribe it to the user.

I subscribe to his youtube.LIke i said my Blurs are rock solid.I was just wondering if this was a known issue.I love Kershaws and ZT that's why i wanted to know because i don't like people putting shit out there like it a major issue instead of a isolated incident

I have never seen this before but after watching a few of his videos about a month ago I decided to skip his channel from then after. He has little to give himself credibility.

If that guy wants to use the blur for defense and is going to stab with it, he isnt too bright. The Blur is a great knife, I use mine hard and it has always preformed as expected.
