This is my first ever post here at blade forums. Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I've been looking at the kershaw blur s30v and the manix 2 and I like them both. They seem similar. If you could only get one, which would you choose and why? Thanks for your help.

Welcome.

I have the S60V blur, and i love the knife. the warranty is excellent, and the knife itself is flawless. however, i have heard nothing but good for the manix 2. having never held one, i can't make any judgements, but would not hesitate to buy one. i think that the best advice would be to go to a knife store and ask to hold them both. see which one you like more, and then buy the one you like more (read- both. :D). it is a simple as that.

I'd take the Manix 2 in a heartbeat. The biggest single reason is that I prefer the Manix 2's blade shape; I don't like the recurve blade on the Blur. In addition to that, I prefer the scale material (G-10) and ergos of the Manix 2 to those of the Blur.

I don't like the blur. I don't like liner locks, aluminum handles, the angled (sharp) thumb studs, or the sand paper inserts. I would take the Manix in a heart beat. If you can find a limited model with a full flat grind that is just icing on the cake.

I got rid of my Blur, but I've still got my Manix 2s. All three of them. The Blur's not a bad knife by any stretch, but I prefer the Manix 2.

Both are nice knives, both are pretty different from each other. One is manual, the other is assist, both have nice useful EDC blades. Some say the Manix's lock is hard to manipulate, other don't like liner locks. The Manix feel bigger in hand then the Blur, both are comfortable to use. To me, this is a choice you'll have to make yourself. The good thing is that you can't go wrong either way.

ive got the manix and had a blur, standard sandvik steel version.. it was ok but the cm154 is a little better wearing steel imo. the s30v though evens the score and then some. id not shy away from a blur in s30v. theres no getting around there both pretty different knives other than blade size overall. the manix has a better feel where the blur is somewhat cold due to its mostly metal construction and no outer scales. the blurs liners are on the thin side of average imo. the ball lock on the other hand is quite strong if somewhat more difficult to close. they both open fast and id put my manix against a blur despite the assist. the manix is a beefier knife imo. the blur with probubly ride in the pocket slimmer. for my experience s30v will do better in edc than 154cm, though like someone once said dare i say it? your milage may vary. :barf: lol
two similar but very different knives. though i like them both neither are favorites of mine in there price ranges, that said im not going to take over this thread by throwing in other knives. i like them both ive liked the manix a little better overall. if i had both on the table in front of me id have a tough choice on what one to edc but might lean twords the blur in s30v due to weight and the better steel. id lean twords the manix if something more tactical was in mind.

Just get both and be done with it :D

I have both, and like them both, The Manix is a bit bulkier, but not by much.

Can't go wrong with either...

Love my Manix. Blur wouldn't be my first pick for a Kershaw either, although it is a great knife, especially at the price. I really want an S30V FFG sprint run Manix 2 though...

If you end up getting manix make sure you get the xhp one. If u end up getting blur get the cpm154 one!

Don't know if I get in trouble for this but bentoboxshop has xhp manix and knifeworks has cpm154 blur

had the s30v blur. liked it, crisp opening, stout blade, great lockup, etc. it was excellent quality. but i didn't like how rough it was in hand to hold. it's a serious user, but the handle texture was a deal-breaker for me. you feel it when you reach into your pocket for it, you feel it in your grip. it's going nowhere, but it's like they made those inserts out of sandpaper.

so the grip ended up being why i got rid of it. it's the kind of blade i imagine a rancher has in his pocket when he's out checking fences.... has leather gloves on half the time he's using it. if that's you, it's the perfect choice (for me, i kept the ZT 0350 - same company, similar size, more comfortable texture on the handle than the blur for my personal tastes)

never handled a manix, i actually pushed my edc size with the blur/zt0350, i tend to carry smaller than that most days, and fixed blades in the woods. good luck in your choice, if you're like the rest of us, you'll end up with both :)

Manix 2 all the way. It feels better in hand, and is very strong. Honestly the blur's always felt a little cheap to me.

Manix 2. I love kershaws and have many but if i had to chose just one it would be the Manix 2. I live very close to the spyderco factory and got mine new from them. I would advise you to tighten the pivot screw. Mine was a bit lose when i got it.

Just bought the Manix 2!!! I'll let you guys know how I like it when it arrives later this week. Thanks for all your comments. They really did help.

I have both and Vote for Manix 2

Why

- Blur doesn't have same handling ergonomics as Manix which you has long and short grip with forward choil

- Blur is shorter length scale, for my hands to short

- Speed safe scares sheeple, never take to office they will think your now in gang

- Aluminum does equal G1o for grip

- No gimping on Blur versus some of the best gimping in the knife game with Manix 2

- Both US made =

The OLD Blur inserts were grip tape. The new Blurs use Trac Tek or whatever it's called and it rocks. Get the Blur, cheaper, better warranty and probably just as tough with the aluminum handle and 1/8" thick blade stock. That liner lock is one of the best I have ever handled. The recurve is a cinch to sharpen with ceramic rods. You can get a croc stick for $20, no brainer.

I vote manix 2 but keep in mind it's WAY bigger than then blur and is quite the pocket hog! The blur is a nice knife but the traction inlays keep me from buying one .
