Lately I have been feeling the desire for a tanto, which is something I don't have in my collection at the moment, ordered a Utilitac II and was not impressed. I see the limited edition Blur tanto is still out there, thinking of ordering one...yay/nay?

Yes! Also pick up one with the smoke green handles, and you too can make this FrankenBlur...

You might be able to find them on the secondary market as handles-only, but I've never seen them. Nobody ever said FrankenBlur'ing was an inexpensive venture. ;) You could also try anodizing the handles green (or whatever color you want) and then bead-blasting it to get the smoke effect. Unless you happen to have all that equipment and material already, though, you're probably better off just trying to pick up a used Blur for FrankenBlur'ing.

To be honest? I think you'll be disappointed with a tanto. Useless on a knife like the Blur (IMO). Also, I don't think that steel warrants a buy just because it is limited production. There are much better knives out there for the money.

It's a cool knife regardless, it's a blur after all. The tanto blade is utilitarian enough to cover most any edc task and the BDZ-1 steel sharpens easily, for around $65.00 you can't go wrong.

I have a black Tanto Blur. I just ordered a Red Blur too but it's not a Tanto blade. So what am I getting at? Yeah, order it. Not because you're being enticed by the limited edition thing but because they are pretty well priced and not limited at all. I just like the darn things with the U.S.A. on the box and all and the cool look they garner.

Speaking of Frankenblurring...I recently polished the black pocket clip on my Blur. I really want to change the black hardware to plain stainless as well. Does anyone know off hand what size the threads are on it?

2-56 I believe but someone here may have already been there and done that so I thought I might ask. Actually, blue or red hardware would be even more awesome.

Blurs are some of the best made in USA knives you can get. Ergonomics are spot on, Speedsafe fires the blade out with authority, and that tanto blade shape will handle practically any EDC task you need.

I never got the hate on tantos when it's basically a wharncliffe with a secondary edge.

As someone who owns both this particular Blur, as well as a tanto Utilitac II, I would say that the Blur's tanto blade shape is more delicate looking, albeit more elegant looking as well than the Utilitac tanto blade. Understand the difference here, though. The Utilitac II is a tremendous hard-use folder at an absurd price. The Blur is a near-perfect EDC knife, and its design reflects that. It is lighter, smaller, slimmer, and its assist open, as Grown said, fires with authority. It's a fantastic knife, but so is the Utilitac. They're just fantastic in different ways.
