I recently purchased a Benchmade 10412 Mini Pika II, and I really like the knife except for one thing. The blade is pretty difficult to deploy, especially compared to my Griptilian or any of my Spyderco knives. I have lubricated it several times, and have spent the last few days opening and closing it constantly trying to loosen it.

This hasn't had much of an affect, and I was wondering if anyone had some tricks that might get it to loosen up, without weakening the lock, or creating issues with blade play. This annoyance is holding back what I would otherwise consider to be a perfect EDC knife for me. Thanks.

Yes. Push up towards the pivot instead of away from the handle. I too was "spoiled" by the smoothness of both Spyderco's Japan/American offerings and the smoothness of Benchmade's Blue and Black class. I find the same issue with the Pika/Pika II and Byrd series. They are not quite as easy to open - but if you exert the force in the proper direction it is easier. Also, you can try adjusting the pivot screw.

Was thinking the same thing. Try to adjust the pivot screw in very small increments or you may get a little more blade play than you want.
