Just bought a BM 14200 Heckler and Koch. Very impressed overall but i noticed one of the main hex screws looks a bit chewed! while the other one on the reverse is pristine. Is this just poor quality control or am i getting over fussy. The packing was perfect ,blade pristine, etc, so i dont think i,v been sold a "seconds" . Anyone had a similar experience?

send it back if it bothers you. i have one and its not like that. you could just call them and they should send you a new screw. no it shouldn't be less than perfect on a knife costing that much. i think if you go to benchmade's site you can message them.

I think its no big deal. For all anyone noticed the screw (which are made at an outside source) came that way and one got under the radar of quality control.

Send it in?? If BM can't send out one screw for a $150 knife I think the public needs to seriously reprimand that behavior. Even Cold Steel, a company with one of the worst factory warranties in the industry can do this for their customers and has for me more than once. They also mailed out a thumb stud to me once. If BenchMade's policy is really one that demands you have to send your knife into them, have it gone even for a week after paying to mail it to them and have it mailed back, and just for one screw I think they need to re-evaluate what true customer service is all about personally. As much as I love the HK axis lock line up of BM's knives if they actually expected me to have to do without an expensive knife I just bought, and just for one screw I'd sooner return the knife for a full refund and tell them I'm buying a Spyderco.

if he has a driver that fits the hex just right it will be fine to get a new screw. if not he's gonna have to buy one or he will mess it up. anything less than a perfect fit will mar the screw.

I must have missed something, I don;t remember seeing anyone say Benchmade required that it be sent in. Jill said send it in or call them and ask for a screw....I agree. I've had good luck with Benchmade and, in my estimation, they would probably ship 2 screws so you'd have an extra.

Thanks for the replies guys, i,v sent an e-mail to Benchmade to see if they can send one. Hope sending the part to England is not a problem. I must say, that axis opening device is smooth as silk!

I had a somewhat chewed screw on my 707D2 when I got it. I sent an email, and Cust service was awesome! Not only did they send me a handful of screws, but they sent me and extra clip as well!
Major thumbs up for Benchmade CS!

Hi,
I have had great dealing with Benchmade customer service. They sent me out several repalcement screws when I lost the screws which held the clip on.
And, the Torx set of drivers are SUPER cheap, less than $6.00...if your into knives or not....set is handy...look at the HOME DEPOT line of Torx screwdrivers .... model # 74502 ....

I have the same knife, (BM Heckler & Koch 14200, ("Angry Tip" is his name... yes, I name my knives) ...and one of the screws came very slightly chewed, but I don't care. To me it is a unique beauty spot, like on a woman one is fond of. This is the best tactical folder available, and I use it extensively. And like a woman, it is going to look worse before it ever looks better.

Unless the chewed screw is extremely bad or you are a serious "investment" knife collector, I recommend you just love your knife for it's unique hand assembled quality. It will never let you down... Perfection does not exist in this life, and everything eventually fades.

They sent me a clip, 4 screws, a pivot screw and a new t-6 bit all in one day. NO questions asked. They're the best.
