I'm considering pick up the 300 Axis Flipper, but very little about it. What's the general consensus re: value, quality, any issues, etc... ?

I really like it, especially the 300-1 and the -1301 in D2. The action isn't for everyone, especially because it doesn't have a detent like a traditional flipper. It's thick and beefy, with a really nice blade shape.
I don't think it was too popular because of the action.

The action is sluggish and really requires a bit of a whip along with the flip.

It is thick handled so it feels chunky in the pocket.

I got it for the blade shape, but couldn't find myself carrying it due to the above mentioned issues.

Many have complained about the action of the 300 Axis Flipper, but Benchmade's own write up & description of the knife was that the flipper tab was intended to work together with a light wrist action. I find that my 300SSN flips & locks open with a very light accompanying wrist action, and gravity drops shut on releasing the axis lock. The thick handle is quite ergonomic & comfortable in hand, but yes it's a bit bulky for pocket carry.

I can usually get mine to open with a strong push on the flipper and always with a light wrist action. Opening and closing by pulling the axis bar back always works also. As far as the handles, I sanded them down as thin as I could and the handle is about a half inch thick now. I also reshaped the interior of the handle, added a small choil and slightly reshape the blade. If I didn't have so many knives I could see it being my only EDC.

It's definitely a chunky knife. But with a little twist flick it opens well. Definitely in my rotation

I love the 300, and I can personally vouch it is tough as nails. I've dropped mine off an 8 foot ladder with not a scratch after, and the axis lock held through the impact.
