The pins on my 42 aren't even, and I'm not talking about the adjustment screws, either. Is there a way to safely pound the higher pin into place, or just live with it?

NEVER EVER POUND A BENCHMADE!!!!!!!! It's got a warranty, you can send it in and they will fix it for you or replace it. If you pound it and the whole knife is ruined, they will not help you.

If you wanted to play it relatively safe, you could always try hitting the pins with a rubber mallet... but like JGardnerA said, if you accidentally mess up your knife Benchmade will make you pay to fix it.

Wouldnt pound it. I had one like that, the pin wont budge. If it really bugs you send it back to benchmade.

mine's like that. ouch. just sliced myself with it, too.
the safe handle pin & screw protrude more than the bite handle pin & screw. it doesn't affect my flipping, and i can adjust the screw just fine, so i don't care. :p
peace.
aleX.

It doesn't affect anything except just looking at it. Mine was like that until I took the pins out (disassembled all but the latch), yes I know this "voided" my warranty but does it look like I care?? :)
When I put the pins back in (had to use a hammer to do my own version of "pressure fitting") I made sure they were even, now it looks better than it did before, and it flips better. :)

BalisongMan, the same thing happened to me. The pins were at slightly different heights when I first got my knife, but after I took it apart to change the blade style and put it back together, the pins were even and the bali seemed to flip more smoothly than before. Of course, I cleaned the washers, inside of the handles, etc. too so that probably had something to do with it.

I also cleaned the insides of my 42; washers, pins, threads of screws, hinge pin holes. Good ol' Q-tips :D

So, if it bugs me, and I'm worried about the warranty, send it back to Benchmade and have to go without for a week or so?

Well, I'll have to live with it, since it isn't enough to slice or cut me. Kinda looks awkward, though.
