Anyone else notice that the anodized finish looks a little rough? I had the chance to get either a 42 or a 42A when I bought my 42, but the 42A and a 42AS looked rough, like an orange peel. Is this normal, or where these two knives part of a bad anodizing run?

YAY !!! My 100th post.:D I have the bm-42A and the finish isnt ruff at all to me. It might look ruff because there are splotches of different colors which might give the surface a texture look. I think the finish gives you a better grip and it just looks plan out cool.

AWWWW MAN ! Its my 101st post. Oh well the more the better. Cant wait until I get to the 200th post.

oi!
looking at my 42as... i see what you mean. i think it's normal. it doesn't affect the feel, but it certainly doesn't look as smooth as polished titanium. i think it's mostly the varying color, like chineseman said. on mine, it looks as though there's a base color (blue) with some purple patterns that are raised perhaps .0001 inch. when i hold it up to a light, however, so that it's in silhouette, i can't notice any kind of raised patterns upon close examination.
peace.

*Dave looks at BM42 on desk* I think Alex is right. Although I think it actually does provide a certian amount of grip... not much... but a little. My safe handle is a noticably lighter color from hand wear, and upon closer inspection, it feels smoother than the bite handle. All said and done, I like the textured look no matter why its there.

My words exactly Blasto.:D I dont care how it is, I love just the way it is.:D

Good point, guys. I didn't really notice the feel of the handles since the color kinda threw me for a loop. It was just like alex_111 said, one base color with another color on top of it.

I'm still happy with my 42, though. :D
