okay, here's my question. My 42as has all concave serrations instead of the usual concave/convex serrations that I've seen on many BMs. Did they change there pattern and why?

Mykl,

I'm pretty sure that's how they do it now, at least on the 42. I don't have a 42S, but I played with one briefly at a store and I remember it having the concave serration pattern.

It seems wierd because on the picture at 1sks the 42as has the concave convex pattern.

Mykl,

I don't get you. I saw the pics on 1sks, and the serration is not unlike the BM239s ..

Can't see the Spyderco serration very clear though to compare ..

anagarika, I'm not trying to be difficult I am just curious. I perfer this type serration pattern as it lends itself to be sharpened easier. I just want to know if my serration pattern is how all Bm's to come will be like?

Mykl,

I think you got me wrong. I was looking at the close up pics of BM42s at 1sks and the serration looked similar to my BM239s.

Yours is different?

Yes mine is more like the pattern on a Spyderco. It's all concaves. Thanks for replying after so long though.

Don't think you are...know you are.

Do you get any reply from others if theirs are more like spydie or more like 239s?

thanks for posting back. I have to search through my posts to recall this ..

No I have heard anything else and i think I'll just have to find one of the older ones

Do or do not...there is no try.

Well,

What was discussed is like this:
the normal BM serration (239s for example) is concave at the part the edge is hollowing in (towards the blade spine) and concave for the protruding part. It looks somewhat like:
^^UUU^^

Spyderco, on the other hand, (I don't have one, but from Mykil's description) is both concave at the receding and protruding part, somewhat like ^^nnn^^

BTW,
I just change my login.

Yeah, what Chris said, but actually the serration pattern on my 42as is more like ^nn^nn^.
