Does anyone else here find it harder to make this knife move faster? It seems when I am swining it open the handles dont have the same inertia..hence less speed..anybody?

I've found that if you hold the handle closer to the latch end there's more inertia to get that 'schwing'. IMHO once you get some heat from your hands into the titanium, they seem to get kind of 'sticky' and easier to manipulate. The one good thing is that the lighter weight handles won't pinch/beat the he!! out of you as fast!

I find that the 42 is much faster than my other Jags and Bears. I think the main factor of speed is largely determined on the weight distribution, which on the 42 is almost exactly on the pivots.

I agree that the titanium does feel sticky after it gets warm. Also, does notice how Ti smells?

I've had several 42s come out of the box stiff and slow. Just loosen the screws, gently heat tang and handles with a hairdryer to warm them, apply Militec-1 liberally, work it into the joint throughly by just gently moving the joints back and forth. Then, let it sit overnight while the Militec bonds with the surfaces. In the morning, wipe the excess off, tighten the screws up just enough, and go to it.

I think you'll find the 42 is blazing fast.

Oh man, mine SMOKE!

I have to disagree with Dawkind though.

I like to choke up on mine, closer to the pivot point. Actually I put my Index finger tip right in the pivot point and then spread my fingers out to cover the whole handle.

getting 'em open
is half the fun!

You do have to be more deliberate with your movements with the 42. A paricular illustration of that occurred to me a couple weeks ago while practicing an inward to earth grip opening. The lighter handle does not accellerate the blade downward as quickly as on a heavier knife, and I impaled my thumb on the tip while changing my grip to fully grasp the safe handle. The blade didn't move out of the way as quickly as I was used to.

I've been there Steve, more than once!!!! I've stabbed myself in the thumb too many times and even have a couple of scars on my wrist from inward drops. The Miltec does wonders on ANY metal and seems to work for a long time. I'm going to take Master Clay's advice and choke up on it....the BM42 that is!

My 42s fly too. No problems, even with the one I cut the latch off of. That knife is even lighter.
