BM 530 with a better steel??????

I really like my Benchmade 530 as it is very flat and thin and extremely lightweight. What I don't especially care for is the 440C steel as it just doesn't hold an edge the way I would prefer.

Is anyone aware of a similar looking and weighing knife with an upgrade steel.

Yep, BM upgraded 440C to 154CM, and 154CM to S30V.

Funny, considering how companies like CRKT are downgrading from AUS 8 to 420J2 :barf: :barf:

Thanks for the response. I never thought to check the BM site and wasn't aware that they upgraded steels. The NGK site still listed it at 440C. I guess that it pays to ask and/or check further.

Tim,
good luck with your new knife. You bought it already. Right?:D

As soon as my favorite pharmacist opens his store in Bluefield, VA I'll be checking to see if he has it in the upgraded 154CM. His site still shows it at 440C, which I already own. Besides, I gave up buying knives for Lent....and guess what, I just got back from Midnight Mass. Lent is over !:D

I find a lot of times that NGK forgets to update their site when it comes to steel.

Some of their older Delica's (last year) still said ATS-55 and I had to call to make sure it was VG-10. They told me that they just forgot to update the site. ;)
