Bm 530

I have one. It's a nice light small gentleman's knife. Good steel, and a decent lock. I wouldn't push it hard tho.

Have the older version with 440C-steel. Still has to fail me.
Its my summer-EDC, cause of its "no-weight".

Here´s a comparison to the Mini-Grip:

Its light, its sturdy (within reason), its sharp as hell, locks up solid (Axis rocks!!!)...

It comes either plain, CE or black coated either in CE or plain.

The newer ones are 154CM-steel...

I like it a lot, and would buy it again.
It´s no beater like an Endura or Griptilian hence the lack of steel liners, but its sturdy enough for everyday tasks.

Lots of people like the 530 but dislike the Ti-Lite. The differences in design aren't that big to me; what makes other people dislike the Ti-Lite?

A few things...

Ti-Lite has a 4" blade, 530's is 3-1/4"
Ti-Lite has a liner lock, 530 has the Axis-Lock.
Ti-Lite weighs twice as much as the 530.
Ti-Lite has AUS8A blade steel, 530 has 154CM.

I think these are some pretty significant differences! :)

The Ti-Lite is a CS, the 530 is BM, thats the difference.

Besides, the 530 is far flatter, has the better steel (new version), is lighter and has the better lock...

EDIT: too slow, its 2:35 in the morning in Germany...

I absolutely loved my 530 before I lost it or had it stolen (probably the former). Probably not best as a hard user, but it can handle most cutting tasks for you and it's super light.

The thumbstud on the Ti turns my thumb into hamburger. The quillions act like a shredder on my jeans.

Handle always felt flimsy to me. Nothing against Zytel, just that handle. For similar money, I'd go with Gerber Applegate Covert. Similar blade profile, 154CM, more solid in the hand, still under 4".

I understand all of that, but the thing people have said is that the design of the Ti-Lite doesn't allow good utility, as in not a very usable design. I don't think the blade length, lock, steel, or weight is what they were talking about. I've heard people say that "opening bags is the only task where the Ti-Lite shines." These knives resemble one another somewhat, as in their geometry/shape and such. So I'm just wondering why so many people criticize the Ti-Lite but are fond of the 530.

Ah, me too. Good point. I'm actually trying to get rid of mine lol

I just did a lot of research on my next edc, and ended up settling on the 530 got it for 70 shipped at yourcornerstore.com

Hasnt arrived yet but im really excited!

while the cs ti-lite and the bm 530 may look similar, they are really made for completely different things.

the ti-lite is designed for penetration, its weapon for stabbing.

the bm 530 is a light utility knife, and its light weight and slim profile make it very practical for everyday use, for self defense though i would want something a bit heftier.
