Does anyone have both?

I "assume" that the buck would be a thinner ground blade & may cut better.

Both are frame locks, but I don't know which has a better fit & finish.

This will be used as an EDC at the office, used for light cutting, but want a solid, but razor sharp, knife.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I really like the Buck Mayo. I want one in the worst way.

I think you would have a hard time doing better in the type of knife you're looking at.

I have both, and they are both fine knives. I personally like the Buck/Mayo better; slimmer and lighter carry. Plus it is more sheeple friendly and IMHO would be better "around the office" Hollow ground to me is better for slicing, cutting etc.

C Ben sums it up very well, for the use you describe the Buck would be better. I like the 635 a lot but it is a little heavier duty, a good work knife with a lot of blade for the package. The 172 is a sleek little cutter, good grind and easy to carry in pants or even a coat pocket.
