Hye everybody ( first time I post ;) ) !

I currently hesitate between these two knives. ( I need a new EDC !)

Can you give me your opinion for these Knives? (differences in completion, facility to sharpen, ergonomics...)

Cordially,

Geronimo.

Having used both, I strongly prefer the BM 635. It's framelock is more secure than the thin liners on the mini-comander, fit and finish is much bettter on my Benchmade, the grinds are more performance oriented on the 635.

The ergonomics are very similiar, the EKI G10 provides a better grip with wet hands then the Ti on the 635.

The steel choices (S30V vs 154CM) are pretty close. I would prefer the S30V assuming good heat treat.

The EKI's only real advantage is the Wave opening. Perosnally, I don't like it because I never need to get a knife out that fast and it tears the heck out of my pants. BUT, if you do NEED a knife that fast, then it is worth all the downsides.

ON the other hand, you can put a big zip tie on the 635's Spydie hole for a quasi-waver opener.

So what would my choice be?

Easy, the 635 every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

See, now I am the opposite, as EKI is one of my favorite knife makers, and I would recommend a Mini-Commander in a heart beat!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Benchmade knives.
I used to have a 98 Commander that was AWESOME!!! And I personally think EKI is BETTER than Benchmade!

I've had a Mini-Commander and have handled a 635 (one's comming in the mail...)I also have a 630. After using the mini and carrying it for a whileit din't do anything for me, so I traded if off. Didn't really like how the chisel grid cuts, and it was overpriced for the quality. The Wave is a neat feature, but not something I'd buy a knife for. On the otherside I've been very happy with my 630, and really looking forward to my 635. I think Benchmade has been on fire the last two years, and I hope they keep it up.

Geronimo without knowing what you'll be doing with the knife as a EDC I can't give you much more input.

The Mini Commander is nice, but it isn't as nice as the 635. If you are looking for an EDC and not collecting a bunch of different knives I would go with the Benchmade. The EKI would be nice for the collection, but I don't like knives with thin liners. Some people swear by them and say they are great hard use knives, but you can't beat the 635 between the two of them.
