Does anyone use a BM 690 for there EDC or am I correct in assuming they are a pretty knife not a working on the car or in the warehouse knife.

Tell me about you pretty knife that you use for you EDC and how it's holding up.

I had a chinese folder as my EDC until i broke the tip clean off one day, too bad to it took a great edge and held it well too. That's my story, what's yours?

I don't think that the 690 is too pretty for a work knife. It has carbon fiber bolsters and treated wood handles, that kind of handle material should be pretty durable and absorb scratches well. Afterall traditional knives have used material like wood and bone on work knives for years.

IMO, it's suitable for work or EDC, as well as dress carry. It has decent blade thickness, so, although it looks pretty, it's strong enough to be a real user.

That's good news! I was hoping the 690 wasn't one of those knives that you had to pay perticular attention to what you tried to cut. I've been holding back for some time in getting one of the 690's, only because I've never been fond of wood on a folding knife handle. I opted to wait and try to get one with ivory handles and Damasteel blade. I think there were only 100 made. Anyhow I found one, it should be here today. Looking forward to carrying and using it. Yeah, I use my custom/expensive production knives!:D As much as I enjoy collecting, these things are meant to be used as well. Just ask my wood inlayed Sebenza. Not cheap mind you, but makes a great deer dressing knife.;) I wouldn't have it any other way. Just because their pretty doesn't mean don't use em; just show them off more!

I agree for me knives are tools not ornamants and need to be used. hence I don't buy pretty knives that are only good for lookin' at.

A 690 is a knife I have wanted for awhile now. Looking at the specs I would have to agree with the others and say that it would probably hold up like a champ!

Would love to have one but...$

Anyway they are pretty knives, which I think is a good thing since I don't mind leaving my pretty "tools" out so I can look:o at em.

BTW don't ever buy a china knife again, USA all the way!
