This knife is one of the nicest production pieces I own. I find myself drawn to it everytime I go to the knife drawer. The blade shape is perfect. It is a great size and the BC1 blade looks great against the CF bolster.

The size is just big enough to use a lot, but not so big that carrying it dressed up will offend anyone. I like the size of the thumb stud, too.

I have seen where some have complained about the scale screws showing through the liners -- that doesn't bother me too much. What does everyone else think?

I have a 690 too. I think it's one of the best looking and feeling knives I've ever seen. Almost too pretty to use though.:p Not the sharpest knife I've ever gotten out of the box, but that is easily remedied. The rosewood against the anodized liners is gorgeous. A very smooth action, with a satisfying clack when it locks up.

Love my 690, best looking knife I have, good size, people friendly, smooth...but I want one that cuts a bit better. I'll probably thin the edge out more later on. In any case it's still one of my fave knives along with my 710 and Kershaw Boa. It's the one that gets carried with me everyday except work since my work is not kind to pretty knives. Before I forget, did you guys notice a weird smell coming from the wood scales when the knife was brand new?

Well, to answer my own question about the lock, I went to a local sporting goods store to check out the knife. Didn't seem to be anything too modified about the liner, but it looked soooo good I ended up buying it anyway! Don't know when I'll ever carry it though, a little too pretty to go with t-shirt and jeans, I'll just keep my 730 and clip point voyager as my carry blades for now and save this one for impressin' folks at a swanky party (if I ever get invited to one).

Agreed - totally.

However, mine came razor sharp out of the box.

Sometimes these "mine BM wasn't sharp" -things do happen, so I ask the seller to check the knife before sending to me.
