It's been a month since I received my Benchmite and, while it's a wonderful keyring folder (its size is perfect for a keyring loaded with an ARC AAA, a Photon III Orange and a Sebertech M3), I guess I need something more bulky to complete my EDC.

I have narrowed down my choices to this three excellent folders, but I can't decide which one is better for an overall use. Anyway I'm still planning to buy a small unique graphic Sebbie in the near future, so that leaves Chris Reeve's knives out.

- Spyderco Salsa (Titanium): good steel (ATS-34), small enough to be kept in my trousers pockets and from what I have read, it's a good performer. Also, I like the really wide profile.

- Benchmade 705 (ComboEdge): man... that's a beauty. The steel is ATS-34 too, the blade shape is perhaps more versatile than Salsa's and I like the Axis lock.

- Camillus CUDA EDC (154CM): virtually same steel as the other two and a recurved blade that seems to be indestructible.

Which one would you choose and why?

IMO the TI salsa is a better & more comfortable knife than the EDC, I don't have the benchmade.

They're all good and they all have good locks. It sounds like you're partial to the Salsa, so why not that one? You have three choices, and none look wrong, so why not go for the one that catches your eye?

I don't have the Cuda or the Salsa, but I do love my 705! It is difficult to beat the Axis lock for both ease and reliability of operation. The 705 is my choice, but the other knives are all well made quality pieces. I doubt you could go wrong with any of them.

Might want to just see if you can handle them and pick the one thats most comfortable in your hand. They're all great knives for the money.
I handled a Benchmade 705 partially serrated, and while I loved the blade shape, I didn't like the handle. Just felt short and stubby like half my hand was hanging out behind the handle. I've got fairly big hands though, so you may feel completely different about it.

Haven't got to handle either one of the others, but the EDC looks pretty interesting, and its pretty much impossible to go wrong with spyderco.

I would spring for the EDC in D2 for superior edge-holding. That would make it clearly the best of the three IMHO. The EDC weighs a little more than the Salsa or 705 because its handle is steel, but its blade and handle shape work really well for me.

I have the edc and the 705. While I like the edc, I LOVE the BM. It is in my opinion one of the finest production knives out there. I do have smaller hands, which makes it fit better, but I will always have a 705 no matter what new knives come along. Also the edc is a little more difficult to sharpen. The BM just needs to hear the words sharpmaker and it practically sharpens itself. Just my $.02, Peace, Josh

I have the 705 and the EDC and have handled the Salsa. My pick would be the 705, which I feel to be the most versatile of the three. It has the axis lock, too, which is a definite plus. The EDC is an excellent knife for the money, and I love the blade shape; however, there are a few picky kinds of things about it that bug me (the positioning of the thumbstud, for example). With regard to the Salsa, well I just didn't take to it at all. Too awkward, too short and squat. I understand the rationale behind the short-wide blade style, but it doesn't appeal to me at all.

So ... BM 705.

Gotta warn you, though. Whatever you decide on, it's going to start gathering dust when your small Sebbie arrives. ;)

So it seems the general feeling here is that I should order the BM 705. So be it. :)

Thank you all, people.
