Ok before this turns into one of those Sebenza is the greatest knife on the planet threads I've got a qestion. I've been carrying a Delica for years and really like it (have a BM 705 but never liked it, blade not wide enough). I like the mini-griptillian drop point (with thumbstuds). I've noticed BM has come out with a new 707 that has a wider blade than the 705. Also I've been toying with the notion of getting a small Class Sebenza. My question is how do the 707, mini-grip, and small reg or classic Sebenza compare to the Delica: weight, edgeholding, ease of sharpening, ease of opening, resistance to closing, etc.???????????????? I'd really appreciated any input, btw the reason I use the Delica is I LOVE the blade shape, are the shapes of these other three remotely similiar (besides studs vs. holes?) Keep in mind I like tip-up carry and a knife that can be opened very fast but not necessacarily by flicking. Also, I like and have used axis locks, liner locks, and lockbacks, the only framelocks I have used were cheap and crap so I'd like to hear opinions on the lockups too:)

I think you're going to need to wait until the 707 actually comes out to get a comparison. :D

Exactly. :D

By the way, the framelock is an inherently stronger lock than most, even though you found a cheapie can be worthless at any price.

Theres a BIG price difference between the CR and the BM/ delica class of knives. I own a Delica, BM 555, and a Small Classic in S30V. We can discuss edge holding all day, but sharpening is easily done on your favorite sharpener. Locks are solid on all 3. The Delica pivot is pinned, the 555 is with screws and the CR has a bushing. The smoothest is the CR .
All 3 are popular and great knives. Buy them all. Rotate.

Good call, I'd go for the 707(if I like the look, and get to handle it) or the Mini grip. Then save for something else. If you have a budget that will let you get multiples, or already have the $ for the sebbie, I'd get the sebbie, and Delica or mini-grip. Or you could just get them all like guy g said.

I don't think I posted this but I've EDCed a Delica for years and really like it. What is the difference btn the "bushing" on the CR and the Screw on the BM, and HOW can a framelock be smoother than an axis?? I'm not doubting it, just curious. The more I hear the more I think IF I ever want to stop using a Delica a Small Sebenza (of some kind) is THE way to go, please help correct me if I'm wrong?? BTW my fav knife is the 806D2, but I never carry it bc of shock factor, I used to EDC a Police and an Endura but stopped, seems like no one minds a just under 3in blade but 4 or more especially with a black coating automatically makes you a mall ninja:)

The Axis or frame lock has nothing to do with the pivot. The screw on the BM can be adjusted. The bushing system is set and is designed to be smooth. Look at the CR website for the picture of their setup.
I wouldnt recommend stop using the Delica. But adding to your collection is always good. While saving for the Sebenza, get a Benchmade, you'll like it too.

They're all great knives. I'd say stick with the Delica or get the Sebenza. If you don't like the Sebenza, sell it and get seven or eight more Delicas.

I would strongly advise that you pick up a used Sebenza in good condition. No matter how much we describe it, it just isn't the same as holding one for yourself. If you buy one used and don't like it (I can't imagine, but supposedly some people don't :)) you should be able to sell it for what you paid for it. I have a Delica and a BM705. Both are decent knives but the Sebenza is just in a different class. The BM705 sits in my drawer and the Delica is my beater desk knife....the Sebenza is in my pocket.

The 707's blade is no thicker than the 705's. There was an error when the specs were released. The info on Benchmade's website has now been corrected.

Spydiefan04, have you considered the Benchmade 558 mini RSK MkI?

I have 705s, Delicas, Mini Grips (555,556 and 558) and a small Sebenza. Out of all of them the Mini Ritter Grip is my favourite.

I really want to pick up a Ritter Grip... I just wonder if they will release it with a different handle one of these days.

Nice Seiko, Yao moified isn't it:) I like the looks of the Ritter Grip, bc the blade is similar to Sebenza and in the same steel, I also like axis locks, but I just don't believe they'll hold up over YEARS of use like a frame or back lock will, but I still like 'em and have a few. Also I think 100bucks is a bit steep for a griptillian, I guess the thing is I've just never liked the handes on a Griptillain, if the ritter had stainless liners with G10 or Aluminum or Ti handles (so they would be thinner I'd like it). How does a small sebenza compare to a Delica as far as handle thickness goes, I know it's 1oz. heavier.

The tape...Delica- 2 oz and 9mm thick. Small Classic 3 oz and 10 mm thick. 555 Mini Grip- 2 3/4 oz and 12 1/2 mm thick.

All three are classics in there own way . The Sebbie. isn't in the same class as the others. I like the 705 , I gave away my Grippy. ,I cherrish my small Sebbie. I hope the 707 is the best of all worlds . With a flat ground blade in M2, D2 ,or S30V , it would be a much improved Ritter grip. If budget is not a factor , I'd go small Sebbie ., I rotate mine into the EDC rotation , while they are plenty tuff , some find them too spendy for EDC .
