Just received from Knifeworks.com yesterday. Sorry for the small dust
particles in the pics but macro shots under tungsten light are a pain.

Ultra sharp out of the box and very well made. Definitely worth the money.

Some do not like D2 steel but I think it's an excellent choice for a limited run.

Locks up awesome with no blade play. When nested in the frame, blade
sits right in the middle.

This knife gets my vote as one of the best EDC 3" knifes out there.

It's a nice looking knife for sure. I love D2 steel. Nice choice! I really like the blade profile on the 707 . . .

Nice knife. And the pics are awesome. Wish I could do that.

I didn't even know Knifeworks carried them. Good choice. I think the 707 is much better than my Mini-Grip, my 705, my 525 or any of the other Benchmade less than 3" axis lock models (can't comment on Ritter Mini Grip, Cabelas - also D2- or the mini-Barage 585 as I don't own and haven't handled those). I like the slight movement of the blade when you pull the axis lock back. very light & comfortable in the hand. I like the G-10 insert, wish the whole handle was G-10. There is also a carbon fiber handle, S30V version of the 707 but you can only get it outside of the United States. There is a review of that version on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7Wj6TeqJCk

Very nice. I looked at them on the website, but wondered what they really looked like, your pics show it well....

Sunlight off the snow coming in through the window today made for some
better pics.

Shown with the Mini Dejavoo for size comparison.

Excellent shots - inspiring and somethign I am watching.

Any chance of pictures of this against a grip and minigrip

Particulary thickness shots - so as to get a feel how it would bulk out a pocket comapred to a min grip

Great pictures... How quick is deployment relative to other Axis locks? I'm fairly new, but it seems to me the smoothness/quickness varies a great deal depending on balance and weight of the blade.

Actually, Benchmade DID release this version in the USA about two years ago.
They must not have sold well on the international market or something.
I snatched one up when I saw it for sale. They were model 707-701.
Curiously, though not so much now, this was right when BM stopped offering several new HOT designs every year and started putting out stuff to compete with Spyderco and Kershaw. Pretty much been downhill since then. But I digress…

There were a few BM collectors who had paid big bucks to import one into the USA. They were not happy campers when I posted pictures of mine. Many had bought several as “investments”, which is pretty pie-in-the-sky hopeful anyway, so I didn’t feel too bad for them. I didn’t even pay that much for mine, just a little more than a regular one, which was surprising.

The 707 indeed has one of the smoothest openings of any BM ever made. I believe much of that has to do with the blade weight.

I was taken aback some when I received my 707-701 because of its extremely high level of craftsmanship compared to my other BMs. Although this one was a black class, (It came with the black silk bag), I have other black class folders and they aren’t quite as well finished and made as this “limited edition for International export only” model. It made me wonder if the guys across the pond get the REALLY good stuff.

Heavy blade or not, the 707-701 has almost glass smooth opening, better than any other BM I have, regardless of class. The axis lock is just as frictionless. I haven’t taken it apart yet because it just keeps (smoothly) chugging along, so I can’t say if they polished the innards to a higher standard or not. In fact, it’s the only BM I have that hasn’t been apart for cleaning and a tune up. It’s that good.

I’ll post a pic in another thread since I want to show a couple other BM’s that they made.

Now if I could just find a 910TI Stryker…..

Great pics and review. I have two 707s and 3 705s great knives. Nobody does a better job on 154 steel than BM. My only minor complaint on the 707/705 is that the thumstud is a tad too close to the body.
