first time using a mobile phone for this so excuse me if its incorrect. I have been on the look out out for just the right folder for years like most of you. tried a bm 806 but hated the ce. tried a military but too light. tried a zt 0200 and its too thick for current job. i've been eyeing the bm 710 for a months and watching video reviews on youtube to get a better idea of the size. read a lot of reviews on this site about this knife and it sounds great. just curious about opinions from new owners and best places to get this knife. im down to an mtech knife. my zt was donated to my friends brother shipped off to what he calls the sticks in iraq. already lost his sisters spyderco atr. although he says the lock up doesn't jam with the dusty sand on the zt. maybe theirs hope.

I have a 710 and carry it around every once in awhile. Good lock, decently priced for a nice blade.

I would personally wait around for a good deal here on the exchange... if you intend to use it then what's the harm in getting a used one and save some $?

Used one sounds good but I have poor luck on the exchange forums. Was trying to find one for the last week and a half before this weekend but looks like they're all gone. I'll spray paint my mtech and pretend.

The 710 is a kick ass knife. If I had a few bucks I would get another one, but right not I won't be doing that. I wish they had more M2 or M4 blades though. (I lost the one I had another means a replacement.)

What about the Rukus or Mini-Rukus? I'd definitely check them out. If you think the Military is too light, you'll find the 710 is just about equal... The Rukus fits somewhere between the Millie and the ZT when it comes to weight and thickness. The BM Kulgera is also an option you should consider...

Carried and used one for three and a half years until I decided I wanted a smaller blade.

One of the best knives I've ever handled, and I'm thinking about picking up another one just to keep in a box if I ever want to carry it again. Mine has a broken omega spring and I love that knife so much I just can't risk sending it to Benchmade and it getting lost somewhere along the way.

It is big though and bordering on heavy. But it does carry like a much smaller knife because of how slim it is from the spine of the blade to the spine of the handle when closed.

I really have nothing but praise for that knife, it was just time to move on to something a bit smaller.

And with its replacement.

Get one.

Love the Axis lock, but the recurve blade is a b*tch to resharpen especially in D2 (which I love otherwise). The narrow grip is great for carry but bites under extended use. For a long day of cutting I'd go with my Mini-Rukus; for carry and occasional use, the 710.
