My first Benchmade, a BM 710 D2 with custom scales by Keyman, has totally changed my viewpoint on these knives and this company. I love it!

Congrats Coolz! That knife is sick! There are very few knives that pack as much blade into a fairly slim and lightweight handle as the 710.

I should look into custom scales for my 710. As it is now, I don't really like the knife too much, seems too thick of handles and thin blade. Just looks weird, maybe its the thick bronze washers they use. But custom thinner scales would be nice! I like what keyman does by skeletanizing the scales to the liners.

Maybe it's the (any idea how thin they are?) PB washers?? And as for the handle thickness, the 710 remains among the slimmest of the BKC offering...but no they're not for everyone (even if I own five and MUST be nuts...) :p

It's certainly thin, and even though I have several other knives, I keep gravitating towards this 710. It's light, thin, deploys like a dream and carries really well. It seems as though you could beat the heck out of it and it would just giggle at you.

About .093 thick (3/32). I didn't take them off, I just held my caliper next to them and used my calibrated eyeball. (machinist for 20 years) I think the 710 feels great in both the hand and pocket.

.090" is pretty thick to me, if they used .030" pb washers, they could slim it down quite a bit. Maybe I said it wrong about the handle thickness, to me the gap between the blade and handle caused by the washers make it look akward to me. The handle isnt too thick, I said that wrong. Just thinner washers and it could slim the knife down a ways making it even better.

Love it...yup...the 710 is one of my all time favorite...that's why I have a handful of them...lol
