As the title says, I finally got a 710. It's quite a knife and I can understand why it's so popular. I got it used and was able to touch it up on a Sharpmaker to shaving sharp within 10 minutes. I really like it.

The only thing I wish was better was the G10. If it were a little grippier, I think it would be perfect. Though that's just my opinion. Either way, it's a great knife.

Congrats! They're so awesome, how about getting some custom scales for that? I'm going to get some CF scales from Chase Axinn soon.

Hey, orderd mine today... i hear its a wicked knife.. and ive done some research i haer its 100% great.. besides only 1 of the flaws it has which is the g-10 isn't that grippy...

mine is one of the 1st issued & came in d2. its been with me almost as long as my millies & i would never trade it off. i especially like the heat treat of the d2 by b.m.

Congrats on finding a 710 for yourself. I've got three: 710D2, 710-801, and 710HS and love 'em all. Favorite one is the M2 version, had it for years and still going strong. One of my favorite EDC knives!

I have the M4 version and it's a great knife. The handles are on the slippery side though.

The 710 is my favorite design of folding knife and has been for a few years.

Some people like grippier, more agressive g10 and some don't.

I'd like to try some scales made with Spyderco's g10. It would be interesting.

I definitely like the Spyderco G10 much more. I just got a CE Mini Manix (this addiction is getting wildly out of control) and the G10 on that is just about perfect.

I'll take a look at custom scales. Any suggestions?

You bought a 710 D2 and spent time on a Sharpmaker - and this was because it was used? Pardon my chagrin, but many of my new B-M's needed to visit El Sharpmaker before they would be user sharp. Love my Benchmades - and they have been better lately, although most of my purchases have been elder statesmen languishing in the cobwebs of my pusher's display cases. I did buy a new 760 last year - and it was fine. In general, my beloved Benchmades could take a lesson from Buck, Kershaw, and Spyderco, all of whom deliver razors right out of the box, at least in my experience. Still, a Sharpmaker makes most anyone, me included, able to maintain their knives edges, seemingly a requirement if you are a knife-user.

Yeah, the 710 is hard to explain - what a great EDC! Love the G10 on it - just enough 'grip' for me. My ancient Kershaw Blur (440A) was an example - for years - of excessive 'grip' - witness my many fuzzed pants pockets! Newer Blurs, like my S30V (love that steel), are kinder. The Blur replaced my 110 - but was later replaced by a Spydie Native, which was replaced by the 710 (I'm confused...). 710 - keeper!

The 710 has been around LONG before the d2 models. There were 2 other steels before that.

Love my D2 710. When I first got it the Axis lock was less than impressive but I took the knife apart and adjusted the omega springs, now the lock is perfect. 710; fast, sharp and a comfortable carry.

Stainz: I guess I've just had good luck with my BMs. I got a Mini Grip and Sequel that were both incredibly sharp out of the box. That said, I've seen the recent threads about declining sharpness. Guess I just got lucky?

I have one the the 710 D2 variants. It just never sees pocket time. My D2 Para and the M4 Gayle Bradley sees to that.
