Torn on which one of these blades to pickup. I'm definitely getting one but not both. Love to hear thoughts on this.

IMO, the 710 is more sheeple friendly. Also, I find the blade shape of the 710 more useful than that of the 950 Rift. Furthermore, I hate the reverse tanto shape of the 950.

The grip of the 950, while I hate the looks of it, is more comfortable than the 710 and more grippy to boot. Have you handled both? You may like the way one looks more than the other, but prefer the way the other one feels.

I really like both of my 950's (one is in CPM M4). I find it more ergonomic than the 710, and it cones with a nice thin edge from the factory for great slicing. Some don't see much beauty in the 950, but I think it looks pretty good while being a great EDC. The 710 is a classic, but I'm not a huge fan of recurves, and I find the 950's blade very easy to sharpen due to the blade shape and thin edge. Both are good knives, but I'll vote for the 950.

I have both and i think the Rift is a better choice. The Rift feels like a much more heavy duty folder than the 710. I didnt think there would be much difference, but the seems to be better quality and more useful than the 710.

I think the 710 is a more satisfying knife in general but for straight utility probably better off with the Rift.

The Rift is a good knife, but I don't like the lump on the underside of the handle.

I think I still prefer the 710.

I've carried the 710 everyday since it first hit the market. Once I put it in my pocket, I stopped all rotation of EDC's. The 710 was just perfect for all my needs. Big enough for heavy duty folder work, but small enough to do delicate cutting. While it takes a bit of getting used to sharpening a recurve, once you learn it's no more of a problem than any other shape.

I'd pretty much agree with this, except that I don't dislike either the recurve 710 shape or the 950 semi-tanto shape. I think the 950 is probably a little tougher in terms of handle construction. If you're allergic to sharpening a recurve, go with the Rift. Overall, it's hard to say one is much better than the other - both are really top-drawer EDC choices.

The 710 is a classic and will always be one of my favorites -- I've owned several. But I currently favor the 950. I prefer the grip, which is more secure, and the edge geometry is better (thinner) which makes it a better cutter. The lack of recurve is also a plus. Still, you can't go wrong wiith either one.
