BM 710 vs. 705

Hi Kennyroo-

The 710 has a bit of recurve and is very sturdy. The 705 is more suitable for use among "polite company" in an office environment. Both are very sleek-looking knives. I'm going to sell my LNIB 705 as I've learned I prefer the tiny bit of extra length of my classic roundhole Mini-AFCK.

I EDC a 710HS and although its quite a big knife, it carries extremely well. Have not handled a 705 but from photos, they appear a bit small for my large mits and general work requirement.
The 710 is an exceptional tool, extremely well designed and put together and very good value for money. For me,the bigger the knife - the better, if they are comfortable and concealable, the 710 is both.

705 is a pretty decent size knife I think, not too small not too large. I like that I can pull it out for quick little chores and its goes perfect with jeans or slacks, But I guess its a matter of preference.

I own both and like both, the 705 is great for most my carry, the 710 for camping, hiking. I do like the feel of the bigger one but I don't like carrying such a big knife around all the time.

As long as both are legal carry in your jurisdiction, it is strictly a matter of personal preference or convenience. Consider that the 705 is supposed to be discontinued, though, so if you think you might like one, get it now.

I never bothered with the 705 myself. I like my 710 and consider it a medium sized knife.

Never handled the 705, but I EDC the 710 and I often forget it's clipped to my pocket. It carries very well for a knife it's size.

They are both great , depends on laws, enviroment and hand size . Despite its length the 710 is an easy carry .

I carry the 705 x. Use it a dozen times a day for various chores and love it. Not too big to cause an annoying lump in the pocket. Anyone know what the "X" stands for? If this knife is to be discontinued I'll get another on order.

I've never heard of a X model, and I own four 705s myself. :) Perhaps you're mistaken? The 705 has already been discontinued since November, so you probably want to act soon if you want to get another!

Yes. I must apologise. I am mistaken. I thought the original post was referring to the BUCK 705. Sorry. Looks like the Buck 705 is also obsolete. Cannot find it anywhere.

is the 710 similar in size to the bm806d2 ?

The blades are nearly the same size (3.90" vs 3.96"). I find the 710 much easier to carry though. The 806D2 has a very large handle. The 710 has an amazing blade to handle ratio and almost makes the blade look even larger. :)
