This knife looks pretty interesting. Sure wish they would make it with M2 or D2 :)

What are your thoughts? Is it a good hard-use knife?

Thanks,

Matthew

I bought one for my brother for his B-Day, great little knife, I don't care for tanto points but is is a very nice knife.

Another question I thought of, but forgot to ask - does the 722 have a chisel grind, or a conventional "v"-grind?

Thanks,

Matthew

Generally speaking, the 722's difficulty acting as a hard use knife doesn't root from it's alloy (154CM) as some steel snobs would you have you believe, but the fact that it's relatively thin. Alot of people assume that because something is a tanto it must be thick (and thus strong), however the 722 has a thickness of only .115", when you consider the fact that it's also double-ground, that's really not very serious. What this means is the 722 has the potential to be one of the sharpest tantos on today's market, but it also means it will be one of the weakest, and if sharpness over strength is your priority, than I suggest your forgo the Tanto blade and get a 721 instead, it'd make the overall better cutter.

"Hard use knife" is very subjective. I carry a 722BT and find that it is just as tough as any other knife in its category. The axis-lock is its biggest asset. Fit and finish are good.
