I finally got my BM 730 CFHS been trying to track one down for some time now. The limited edition carbon fiber Ares is without a doubt a beautiful knife. It comes in a special presentation box. I've never seen or handled an ares before i got this knife and i was quite pleased with it when i got it. The steel liners on this knife are THICK the carbon fiber slabs are hefty too. the handle ergos are good the non polished carbon fiber are very grippy and the blade is great. M2 steel is good stuff but i personally hate coatings, and the bm coatings are really horrible they come off if you scratch it with your fingernails. the lock up is solid but theres a slight flaw, the axis lock does not engage all the way, its seems that the tang is slightly too big so the bar does not go all the way up. it still locks up solid and im thinking after awhile it will wear down enough so it will fully engage. im planning on making this my main edc. its a good all around knife, about the blade though instead of the swedge i would have preferred a higher grind. the reversible clip is a definite plus since im a lefty.

Manji:

The Axis bar rides up enough to engage the tang. That's what it's supposed to do. There is lots of room for future wear and tear.

Enjoy the knife. IMHO it's one of BM's best designs.:)

well it locks up fine still but it doesn't go up as far as other axis locks ive had, you know how the bar moves back and forth between the little slot that it's in? well all my other axis locks goes all the way forward, the 730 only goes up to the middle

All it has to do is go far up the tang enough to lock up the blade. If it goes all the way up, there is no room left for wear. I wouldn't worry about the Axis lock. It is designed to allow for incremental wear over a long period of time. For all practical purposes it is virtually "wear-proof".
