Hey all,

I am currently carrying a BM707 and love it. I am looking to get another BM as I would like a slightly larger blade and a heavier feel knife.

I am looking at the 745. I like the looks and it has a bigger blade. I also found the 720. I read some good things about both.

Background: I briefly had a 710. I loved it, but was too big for EDC for me.

I would appreciate advice or comments.

Thanks a million.

I think the 745 is a mini dejavu & is a liner lock. The 720 is an axis lock. Personally, I prefer the axis lock, but I think the 745 has S30V steel, while the 720 has 154CM.

I have heard that the 745 is very smooth, though. I had a 720 & liked it quite a bit. I also like the 710, & while it's large, it's the easiest large knife to carry, IMHO.

Good luck on whatever you choose.

...the 745 Dejavoo is a very nice knife. It's not really a mini knife IMO as with medium hands it's a good fit. The S30V blade is terrific and came out of the box VERY sharp.

It's a G-10 based locking liner knife designed by the late Bob Lum based on his 'All-Rounder' I've had one for a while now and really like it. Very smooth and solid.

I'd recommend you try one.

the 720 is one of my all time favorites. i found the 745 to be too light for my taste and the pivot seemed small. i did not feel like it would be as durable as the 720, if that matters to you.

The BM 745 is indeed a very nice knife. Only thing that may deter people from it is it is set up for only tip-down carry.

745 has the smoothest pivot out of all my collection, yes it is smoother than the other 2 axis I have. Polished G10 looks really classy as well

I just went to a local gun store on my lunch break.

Man, you are not kidding about the smooth action on the 745. It is unreal.

The 720 has a heftier feel to it, for sure.

Now I have even more of a problem. I took a look at the 672. Man, thats a nice one.

I think I will just buy all three. Anybody want to donate some money to my cause???!!! :)

The 672, IMO, is a nice knife only with the AO bar removed. The problem/issue I have, is the pointy thumbstud Benchmade chose to use digs in to the thumb and it takes some force to fire it. With the AO bar removed, the stud isn't an issue, it's a much better knife, smooth and nearly as fast that way.

What I WOULD recommend instead, if you want an AO, is the 912/913 Nitrous Stryker series. I just got a PE 913 and it's SO much easier to open. The Nitrous mechanism is truly great, the only problem I see: it's an AO that cannot be disabled.

The best news of all is: both use D2 steel, which is really good stuff.

Have you checked out the Benchmade Osbourne 960 Red or silver? Hot Hot Hot! Both use D2 steel.

i don't think so since this may be the best way (arguably) to carry a liner lock

If you like the AO function, the 913 with the nitrous system is a great choice. It's a rock-solid piece with a crisp action and D2...only drawback may the Ti liner lock as opposed to an AXIS. I had it for a couple months until my GF got a chance to handle it. Ever since then it has been her EDC.
