That things freaking awesome,
its nicer than I expected..

I pre-ordered this one because of its functional characteristics (M390 steel, blade size/shape, Axis lock, etc.), but I'm delighted that it turned out to be a great-looking knife as well. Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow...

The scale pattern looks a little funky, but the handle feels great. The 806 is one of my favorite knives, but the grind is a little too low for high-performance slicing. For that reason, I switched to the Military M4 for an EDC. The 805 raises the grind. I can't wait to put a 30-degree edge on it and see how performs, especially with the M390 steel. Probably not as good as the Military M4, but it might be close. And, in any event, the axis lock makes it easier to handle, especially with one hand.

Truly a great knife.

Man I'm definitly springin for this one ..... I love my 806 but am a little apprehensive to carry it all the time cuz ya can't get anymore, so it's my 710 most of the time......Can't wait to try the M390:thumbup:

Just ordered mine this morning. Hopefully, mine will arrive without most of the problems everyone else has been running into.

Who is having all the problems?

Mine came perfect. Perfectly centered. No blade movement when open. No adjustment needed at all. The Axis lock on this is perfect. Smoooth.

Both of my BM 805's came centered and sharp. A friend of mine is on his way to Afghanistan and will have the option of taking one of the M390 TSEK's.

Check the Benchmade forums. Some are disappointed cause the blades are horribly off center, some even touching the liners. Not only that but apparently blade grinds are uneven but that doesn't bother me since I'll be using this knife an eventually resharpening it. Either way, mine should arrive this Saturday. Can't wait.

Oh snap

On mine, the blade grind is perfect, as far as I can tell. The edge grind is nearly perfect, off just a couple degrees on one side -- nothing you can see by eye. I needed a laser to measure it.

The edge width shoulder to shoulder is actually thinner than my Military M4, although the saber blade grind on the 805 is fatter because the Military is full flat grind. When I reprofile the 805 to 30 degrees, it should cut with ease.

can you get those blue standoffs somewhere? i want to put them on my 710.

also, how hard is it to change them?

My 805 has similar excellent QC, though I did ask for the vendor to verify that before shipping. I set my angle to a bit under 30 degrees and it cuts very nicely. As mention above the edge is thinner than my M4 Militaries edges, and it cuts very nicely.

Mike
