I have a birthday coming up in November, and I was thinking it would be a good excuse to pick up the BM806 in D2. Then I saw this CUDA MAXX which features D2. How would you compare the two as far as construction and quality? I already have the old AFCK in ATS-34 and a 710HSSR, so going with something like the CUDA would add more variety to my collection. However, if you all think the BM806 is the better knife I might put the CUDA on hold. Christmas is right around the corner. :)

If you have an old AFCK, get the Maxx, unless you really want the Axis lock. They are both well built knives.

I would say that the Maxx is comparable to the 806 in fit and finish. Which is "better" depends on your needs and wants. Both are among the best production knives ever made.

Especially since you already have an AFCK I would recommend that you get the Maxx.

Tough choice. The axis v. the framelock, D2 for both. I suppose the big question is, do you want to actually carry it(silly question), and which is more LEO friendly in your area? If the size of the Maxx is not an issue, have fun! Variety is the spice of knives.... :D

Get the CUDA MAXX and you won't be disappointed. The AFCK and the MAXX were my first two "real" knives. When I got that MAXX, I could not believe how huge it is. It is a little large for me to be carrying everywhere, but like everyone said already, you already have some BM's so try something new! I don't think there is anything quite like snapping open a 5.5" blade w/framelock :D You'll be entertained for hours.

Well, it might have to be the MAXX. The DM806D2 will still be on the wish list, but compared to the knives I already have it would be more of the same. I have 3 axis locks now, but I have always wanted the AFCK with an axis lock as I'm not real found of the liner locks. Now that I picked up a Spyderco Cricket SS PE I could always carry that with the MAXX and pull out the Cricket around the timid. I've been carrying the Cricket around all day and I keep forgetting it's in my pocket. I almost have to look down to find it as it feels like the other buttons on my jeans. :)
