At a certain production quality, the choice of a favorite knife is fairly subjective. I've liked all the moderately priced knives I've owned (primarily Benchmade, Spyderco, and the usual suspects) and thought I'd found large-folder nirvana when I bought a 710. I had dismissed the 806 but recently decided to try one, knowing I could always trade it. But this knife was made for me! Basically, because it fits my hand better than any knife I've held. Of course, it has other nice features like Axis, D2, thumb hole, clip point, and G10. The reduced-length spacer is a nice touch, too. I guess this all goes to show (again) that we need not abandon our search for the perfect tool because it (or its next incarnation) is out there somewhere. And perfect is defined as what really works for each individual. Certainly, volumes have been written about the 806 on these forums, but I felt compelled to genuflect a bit to this big hoss. Now, in the spirit of all true knife nuts, I travel onward in search of the next perfect one (in my price range, of course).
