I like the looks of this one. (I'm a fan of holes rather than studs for one thing). I like the blade shape too.

I'd like to hear from any owners of one of these what they think of them.

No, I don't need any other suggestions thanks, just comments on the 806 from people who own, or have owned, them.

Unfortunately NGK is out of stock, is there a general shortage?

Have one. Ergos are great, comfort handle. large Choil works good and there is the small "choil" (no it isn´t a real choil) for a short grip.

Blade is shaped for strength but without getting thick, exept the edge, which is fairly .8mm at top of edge bevel. Edge comes around 40° included.

I would set the bevel back or convex it.

First blade was bad (chipped) second blade is strong. Tryed to push the edge into a nail with no damage. Count this on the steel and the edge bevel.

If BM came out with a M2 version i would buy another one. Just from theory D2 is not as strong as M2 so the HS would have been the more consequent steel grade IMO.

Tip down is the nature carry method but tip up looks cooler.

Opening is smooth, no question. The axis springs are the strongest of any axis folder. They are not located behind the axis bar to push it in place. They are around the pivot and pull the bar in place. They are thicker than other springs, like 550 or 520.

It is build for strength without loosing its knifeness.

If the 520 wouldn´t have the better ergos, the 806 would be my edc forever.

I have a 520, a 5000A, a 550 and two 806 and don´t feel to need anymore folders.

got 2 806D2s and really like them, i like all the AFCKs really, i have about 6 in all.

great knife though ya will like it i bet.

I'll second what Sifu said. The AFCK in general is a great design. I have a few 806's in my EDC rotation and have used a few of them rather hard, all without any problems thus far. If you like the M2 steel, Benchmade did make the original style liner-locked AFCK in M2 for awhile. I have one but have yet to use it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've been looking at a few BMs since I got my mini grip, (my first BM), and, overall, I think I like the 806 the most. Always difficult to choose when you've only got pictures to go by but first hand accounts from guys like you make it easier. :)

All I need to do now is find somebody who has them and will ship internationally.

I've had a couple 806's, but since I like thumb-studs and satin blades better than "the hole" and black blades, I went with the 805 (& 805s).

The Benchmade Axis-locks ROCK!
