BM 930 Kulgera - Three Questions

I have a BM 930 Kulgera with, I'm assuming, production number 406 stamped on the blade.

Occasionally I see these knives advertised as limited editions, but BM's website doesn't confirm this. (at least I couldn't find any info)

So the questions.

1. Is the BM 930 a limited edition?

2. Is there a "standard" edition 930 and a "limited" edition 930?

3. If it is a limited edition, anyone know how many were released?

I have a BM 930 Kulgera and mine doesn't have a production #. As far as I know, theres only two 930's the regular one and the 930skb. 930sbk being the serrated black coated blade.

Not totally sure, but I believe the first production are so marked and numbered. If you're into this, then I guess its collectable.

To my knowledge, there have been no limited edition 930's yet. Seems like the sort of knife that they will someday, but not yet. Benchmade does, however, mark all of its first production (and pre-production and prototype) knives as such. The first and pre-production knives are almost always numbered, and usually from a batch of 500 or 1000. So yours, for instance, may well be first production, #406 of 1000, or something to that effect.

First and pre-production knives from BM almost never differ from the regular production models, and since they come in such large batches, they tend to have little or no added collector value (monetarily, at least). On very rare occasions there may be a slight difference (handle shape, clip placement, etc.), but this seems to only happen once every third or fourth blue moon.

Well, I feel like a bit of an idiot, and have to appologize to everyone who has responded.

Although I have seen the BM 930 advertised as a limited edition, mine is NOT marked 406 on the blade.

I posted from work, did not have the knife in front of me, and confused it with my SOG Arcitech, which is marked 406. (I had been going through my collection a couple days ago and looked at a lot of knives)

Geez, you think maybe I have too many knives? :D

This probably answers my question, no they are not limited edition, since BM's website doesn't identify them as such.

Sites that are calling them limited edition have probably made an honest error on their posting.

Thanks anyway guys. And sorry for the error.

For references sake, before Benchmade pulled the rug out from under their distributors, Moteng had exclusive Kulgeras in uncoated with serrations and coated in plain edge. I'm not normally a fan of coatings, but I must confess that the plain edge coated looked VERY nice.

Kevin,

I purchased mine at a store in Calgary, it say's "First Production 156/1000"
on the blade.

Mine must be from a later production run. No numerical markings other than S30V, 930, and a patent #.
