Today turned out to be a good knife day. I have been waiting patiently to get a 940CF ever since they were announced last year. The 940 is one of my favorite knife designs. I used to have the standard 940, but sold it because I could never warm up to the green handles and purple backspacer. The knife showed up last week at one of my favorite internet dealers and I immediately ordered. Shortly, thereafter, I had to cancel because I realized it had the "First Production" inscription on the blade which is not my thing. I decided to wait until the next batch comes in.

This morning, I went to my local gun store that carries Benchmades, and what do you know, not only did they have the knife without the blade inscription, they were selling it at $220, about $43 less than the minimum selling price. I usually buy my knives on-line, but sometimes buying at the local stores does have some advantages.

Looks good, so much nicer with out the tacky writing on the blade. Guess who ever said that the first production run would be the only 940-1's released this year was wrong which is great news.

Looks great! Enjoy! I too found one at my gun store today but I did not even look at the price.
I have spent way too much money on knives this month already!

Very nice, I have a local gun shop that sells benchmades for 20-40$ less than any online dealer I've seen. Its my little gem :)

FWIW

For me, the 940CF, in this case 940-01, has been my most favourite EDC. There was a limited edition 940CF several years ago and I was gifted #305 of 500 by my son. Sadly, late last year the knife was lost or stolen*. I learned not two weeks ago that a modified implementation (the 940-1) of that knife was about to be released. I asked my dealer to be on the lookout. and on 24 Apr 14 I obtained #621 0f 750.

What happened next may be anathema to some, but I took the knife to the factory and had my name, family motto and clan crest laser etched on the blade. If I lose that one, I want to make it difficult for the purloiner/finder to convert it to his personal use.

This is my 5th 940. I have a 942 (1st Production 0002/1000)**, a standard green-handled 940BK, a Gold Class 940-81, and #621 of 750. If Providence provides, #305 of 500 may be returned.

These are not my only Benchmades. I have five others - an Infidel, a Mini-Infidel, an Auto Axis 5000, a Pardue 856D2 G10 Limited Edition, and a Nakamura 480-1 CF.

* NOTE: 305/500 Limited Edition was recovered today. My wife, bless her little pea-pickin' heart, found it in a (very) dark corner of the ManCave.

** traded to obtain 940-1 First Production 545/750 as a gift for my son.

Great find !
I would get one if I could find one at that price(what it should be before the MAP took affect).

I imagine a walk in store can get by with(if they want to) not doing the Benchmade MAP pricing, and an online store can not.
BM may stop selling to the online dealers if they catch them advertising below the MAP price.
