I just received a 940 today and it has blade play when closed, but nice lockup when open. I haven't noticed this in any of my other Benchmades. Since it's so new, I haven't brought myself to try messing with the pivot screw, as the action is otherwise fine. Any cause for concern?

Sounds like mine.
I've been playing with it the past couple of days to try to get myself to like it and I think it's finally starting to get my fancy.
I was quite displeased with the 940 at first... not anymore.
Nice little blade!

Upon closer inspection I'd have to say that there really isn't much blade play.
A little bit if you try to find it, but it seems to be a pretty solid setup.

I have really begun to like my 940. When I got it, I couldn't stand the green scales, I thought they were ugly and if I dropped the knife in grass it would be a rough time! So, I took the black scales off my 941 and put them on my 940. So, I have a S30v/black handled 940. Which, to my knowledge, isn't produced.

Never concerned myself with blade play when closed, not much I can notice, it is certainly solid when open. Also didn't care for the green at first, generally prefer black, but I love my 940. Just happens to be at my side now.
