Hi Everyone, my first real post! I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to roughen up the handles of the Benchmade 940. I really liked the somewhat scratchy feel when I first bought it, but they have become smoother over time and it's really bothering me. Hmmm, maybe time to place a pre-order for the 940-1

Thanks in advance--BF members are awesome and I plan to participate more in the future!

I have a well used 940 and the handles are smooth. But I don't feel like I will lose my grip either. Why don't you try some skateboard tape?
And it you want to feel a really smooth handled knife, handle the plain stainless Kershaw leek. I had one pop out of my hand when I was closing it.

Thanks for the reply. I might try the skateboard tape--just a thin strip should do the trick. Talking about smooth handles, I've got a Benchmade 890 Torrent. Nice feel in the hand, but waaaaay too smooth.

Another way to go, that is pretty simple and doesn't include taping up your knife, is to take a scotchbrite pad to the handles. If you rub in two opposing directions you will get a crosshatched pattern that is more grippy, if it gets smooth over time just redo it with scotchbrite again.

Nice. I might give that a try. It's a user, so scuffing it up aint no big deal. I already sanded the black coating off the blade, anyway.

If you don't mind silver handles you could have them media blasted. Another thing that would be pretty cool would be to have them truck bed lined.
