BM 940 or 943?

I'm finally ready to enter the realm of quality knives. And I've been looking at any BM with an axis lock... Been looking at mini grip's but they just don't do anything for me. I played with a 940 at a local knife shop and that thing is SLICK! So my question is mainly about blade shape... reverse tanto or the clip-point-like shape?

Uses: Cutting boxes open, cutting zip ties when need be, cutting cardboard, it will be an EDC knife.

The bladeshape of the 943 is fantastic. Both are great, but I have a preference for modified clip point.

I actually enjoy the reverse tanto, but the question you want to ask yourself is if you want a stronger tip or a finer, more delicate one. If the usefulness is all the same to you then choose based on your own aesthetic preference.

What is "best" is very subjective, and each will easily kill cardboard and zip ties. So get what you like and you'll be doing ok.

The tip really isn't that big of a deal to me, because I always carry a beater knife with me so if it comes down to doing something I'm not supposed to be doing with a knife, I'll use the beater not the BM...

I do like the look of the reverse tanto though.

I have several of both. It really makes no difference. Get the one you think look better. I prefer 940.

Vote for 943.
The modified clip point is more in-line with the sleek style.

I have been trying to make the same choice. I have come to think that the 940 is one of the most practical blade designs I have seen, but it is ugly (ymmv). I still haven't bought, but I am leaning toward the 943, just because of the sleek profile. I like the looks of it, but I am concerned about the thin tip. Let us know what you end up buying.

You definitely share almost the same views I do... I don't mind the look of the 940... but I'm also skeptical of the thin tip on the 943 just in case I start prying... It doesn't look extremely thin but nowhere near as thick as the 940... I will probably end up getting the 940 because of the thicker blade tip.
