A few days ago I asked for recommendations between the SC Delica and BM 940. I've done some more searching and decided to drop the Delica from the list and now the final 3 knives that I am looking at are a little closer on the price scale and size. The BM 940, SC Military, and the SC Gayle Bradley. I also really like the ZT 0350 but it looks too cumbersome for just an EDC. Besides the differences in weight and steel, do either of these knives set themselves apart as higher than the others?

You are comparing some very different blades my friend.... The 940 is a slim, lightweight knife that packs a large blade and carries very easily. Definitely a Light to medium duty blade though. The millie is a large liner lock, with a loyal following, awesome ergos, and good steel. The bradley is a heavy mid sized liner lock with CF scales and a more unique blade shape (and better steel). The SS liners and thick liner lock would place this as being the "hardest use" knife of the group. Choosing between the 3 really depends on what you will use it for...

i like the mille...its one of my fav folders to carry! Its slim and has awesome egos and blade shape...the 940 i hear to be extremely smooth, and is IMO the lightest duty one of the bunch...the GB is most hard use of your list...with very thick liners and one of the best steels for hard use...

you should think about what your gonna use it for, and go from there...

I have all 3 and as myowngod says, they are very different indeed.
- The 940 is the most "gentlemeny" of the the bunch, but it can still handle tough work. Some people prefer its axis lock (I like it but have no preference over good other locks such as the two of the other knives)
- The GB is a very tough general utility folder with a chic CF handle. It's sturdiness causes it to be rather heavy.
- The Military is a splendid allround slicer with perhaps the most dependable liner lock ever. But it IS rather big for EDC.

Those are very different knives.

The 940 is very lightweight and somewhat elegant.
The Military, while still lightweight, is huge. At nearly 10" overall, it's just not something I want to carry in public.
The GB is a brick. Tough as nails but for the size, considerably heavier than the above 2.

I like the 943. It is like the 940 but with a pointier tip. My Militaries get little use. If I want a large folder, I opt for the Camillus CUDA MAXX. The Bradley reminds of my Sebenza which doesn't get too much pocket time.

I feel that the most versatile of the lot would be the Gayle Bradley. The Mili is definitely an outdoor-oriented folder, large, stainless but lightweight.

Gayle Bradley is said to be able to handle hard cutting chores well, but to me it looks much less scary than a Mili, and more acceptable in an urban environment. I've never seen or handled a 940 before, but the above posters probably have it covered :)

I should add to my above comparison that if you want to see them in the hand, have a look at clips 11, 19, 83 on my video review page .

For one universal and not too big or heavy or aggressive EDC, the Spyderco Stretch 2 is difficult to improve upon. I have the CF version (clip 54), and the various cheaper FRN versions are attractive as well.
