BM 940 Thread size

Hi,
Had my rear body screw stripped,which connects scales and backspacer on Benchmade 940.
I used my drill and went through the screw which worked perfectly, no damage was done on outside of the scales.Then I tried to put the new screw but there was no thread inside.Which size tap I should use to make a new thread?Heard it was 2-56 but want to make sure.Thank you.

The thread is 2-56 but if you drilled out the female threads you probably won't be able to get the tap to cut new threads. I would recommending sending it in for repair.
