Hey, guys. This isn't a time-waster asked just cuz I'm curious and like to here myself type. Nope. I have a trade offer and I need some objective opinions.

I've been offered a Lone Wolf Harsey T1 (simply a little bro to the massive T2 and T3, so far as I can tell) for my Benchmade 940 SBK Osborne. Now, for those who don't know what the "SBK" means, it is BM's acronym designation for a black combo edge blade. I know, I know... "DUDE! Combo edges SUCK... if you knew how to sharpen a blade properly then you wouldn't need serrations... black blades are for mall ninjas and pimple poppers!" And on and on. I get it. And I agree, somewhat. But it was dirt cheap, so I had to buy it.

The relative merritts or shortcomings of a combo edge are moot here, because I really don't use my knives enough for it to matter in a functional sense. What I'm really interested in is opinions of, or experiences with, the Harsey Tx series knives and any comparisons that can be made (again, through opinion or experience) with the 940. Of course, feel free to throw in your thoughts on combo and/or black blades... you know you will anyways;). But at least let's have an attempt to somehow connect the thrashing or lauding of serrations to the relevance of the 940's value within this trade specifically, and also to the relevance of the 940's value within one's/my collection in general.

Too much to ask? Nah, I have faith in y'all. Thanks a bunch.

p.s. I guess I did want to hear myself type... a simple "940 vs. Harsey T1" would've sufficed:rolleyes:.

I don't have the 940 (do own 4 Benchmades), but I do have the T1. The T1 is a stout blade, and the knife is a strong user. The lockup on mine is really strong, but the blade is harder to deploy because the thumbstud is a bit close to the liner and pivot. I also took a sanding block to the edges around the G10 scales, because the finish was a bit sloppy. Generally, I think the fit and finish are not as good as Benchmade. I like the knife, and it gets pocket time when I plan on a day of hard use tasks (not tactical, but say, remodeling, yard work, etc. The jimping is very good, and I like the grip the G10 allows.

From owning other BMs, I would think the FandF would be better on the 940, and the axis lock and overall action should be smoother. I would think the 940 is a nicer knife. My only beef is that I don't like aluminum handles.

So, I would say for a hard user EDC, the T1 might be better, and for a lighter use, office EDC, the 940. Just my 2 cents.

I have the Harsey T1 and would love to get rid of it.

My first Lone Wolf was the T2....Great knive...Great slicing blade...Nice flat pocket carry...Best clip I've seen. I carry it canoeing and portaging. Nice and light with Ti liners.

I decided to get the T1 in carbon fiber. What a mistake. They just shrunk the design. I guess they ran it through the 70% reduction on a photo copier.

Blade rubbed against back spacer...thumb studs contacted liners. Dismantled knive and ground groove in back spacer and dremmeled cut out on RH liner and scale so I could open knife. Could not believe the drop in design and Quality from the T2 andT3. Was disappointed in finish and fit for a US made knife. Not really fair for Harsey.

I use mine as yard junker, it just won't get lost.
