I just got through posting about the SOG Spec Elite II that I picked up today, and also wanted to mention the BM 950 Rift I have coming in tomorrow. If you have read any of my posts you will be aware that I like the very large folders, and the BM is not quite in that categorry. I wanted one though because from the moment I first saw it I fell for it. Love the whole design/shape of this knife and though I like the larger folders am certain that I can find time and reason to carry the Rift. So, anyone have this knife abnd if so what are your thoughts?

I don't have one, but I played with it for a good while at SHOT, and it was quite impressive! Really beefy and solid feeling, but with a suitably thin profile for aggressive slicing and EDC without needing a new belt. Ergonomic as hell, too!

I liked it when I first saw it online myself. However after holding it, it wasn't as appealing to me. But this is just a personal preference. The design looks well thought out, I just don't like folders where the blade is just as long as the handle. So I like the design except for the blade/handle length ratio. I understand that a lot of people actually prefer that type of ratio though.

I had noticed that the blade to handle was barely less than 1", with the handle being 4.60" and the blade at 3.67", so that is .07, or seven hundredths. I'll know tomorrow how well it fits my hand and I'm really hoping it is a good fit! Thanks for the info guy's!:D

I did put one on my want's list. Let's us know how it goes with your new knife.

all I can tell you is this: after getting the Rift I sold my Griptilian and no longer carry my 520...

Got the Rift this afternoon and on first look I really like it. There are a few things I would like to see different, but that is usually the case with me as I like heavy duty folders. Everything about the Rift was top notch. The fit/finish was excellent, lockup was tight and solid, the action was smooth, and the blade came extremely sharp. One of the main things I would like to see changed would be the to go to the foldover pocket clip so that the whole knife goes into the pocket, but that is probably just me. A few more "just me's" would be to have the double thick liners that the Rukus/mini Rukus have, and go with a thicker blade of around .150". Those few changes would definately guarantee the Rift to be a big time edc for me. As it stands though, it will still be an edc, especially when I want to go with a smaller knife. I still love the design of this one may talk to STR about doing me a foldover clip.

These are just some initial observations. I'll try to get back when I've had time to use the knife a little. Don't think a body could go wrong with the purchase of this one!:thumbup::)

The invoice states, "We appreciate your business". Boy, I bet they do! You wiped out their entire inventory at once! ;)

I just receive the same knife. To me it is a larger knife and I carry around a Switchback and 940. I might use this one when I'm in the woods and don't want to carry a fixed blade. The blade does seem like a good cutting design but I would have also liked a thicker spine for a blade that large. The knife is also to thick to fit in my slacks well.

My only real complaint is that little bump in the handle just before the end. That is where my pinky wants to sit so I either have to drop the pinky down or squish my fingers together. I really wish Benchmade would get rid of these useless bumps on the handle. My Switchback has it also and I don't like it there either. The 940 has a very nice handle, I really wish I never lost it.

I just bought this one yesterday. I was suckered in by the "First Production" stamp. I did not notice the thickness of the liners, but indeed, they are thinner than my Rukus and my trusty old Ares.

The handle fits my hand perfectly, and G10 is one of my favorite handle materials. The grip is superb.

I would rather have the plain blade version, and I think I will probably get it later.

if they make one with a solid black handle, I'll be more interested... the current model is a little too "trendy" IMO

I'm holding out for the clip point. At least I'm hoping they'll clip this one's point like they did the 94x version.

I've had my new PE satin 950 for a few days now and really like it. Good blade design, comfy (and GRIPPY) scales and a very smooth Axis delivery. It's already replaced my 520 as a go-to heavy duty knife.

While there are complaints on 154cm as the steel choice, over D2 or S30V, I've always like ATS-34/154cm for its toughness combined with ease of sharpening.

Good knife, recommended!

I have just received one and I think it is a great knife - the hard-use, quality G10, Axis Lock knife that many people have been waiting for.

I too would recommend this one! Just got one in a few days ago and really liked it. The two tone g-10 handle has got some great grip to it, and the machining is really nice.

Blade shape is cool as well, consider me a satisfied customer!!:)
