Bm 950?

I have a new 950 on the way from BM to replace a 940 that is just worn out. I have always been a BM fan and have owned quite a few of their blades. Recently I have taken an interest in the higher end Spyderco knives. I have owned a few cheaper ones like the Delica, but nothing nicer than that.

Looking at the Military and Para-Military has made me question my desire for the 950. The Military fits in my hand quite well and I love the fit and finish.

I just wanted to see if there is anybody on here that has both, and which one they prefer for EDC.

Thanks,

Adam

i have held both, however i love the axis lock system it is so much simpler, plus the military is a big folder, i would say the 950 is a medium, better suited for edc

i like the new 732

I wear large size gloves and much prefer the 950. It is my favorite knife of all time of all the knives out there. I'm personally not a fan of the Military because even though I have large hands the Military is bigger and just doesn't fit in my hand well. It's like holding on to a broom stick for me.

If you have already ordered the 950 I would at least check it out. I'm sure you know how awesome the AXIS lock is. It has a blade that is almost as long as the Military's but in a much more comfortable handle.

If you are thinking about a Spyderco I would wait a couple months for the Paramilitary 2 which looks pretty great. One of the Sprint runs of the Manix 2 is also worth looking at with a full flat grind. And the Gayle Bradley is pretty cool if you don't mind a liner lock like the Military has.

i second that about the 950, also my favorite knife of all time

it is probably the most versatile knife i own, cuts well with almost fully flat grinds, axis lock, suprisingly comfortable handle

but if you are looking into higher end spydercos, the manix 2 sprint run in foliage green G-10 and CTS-XHP steel is worth looking at. Manix 2 has top notch ergonomics, VERY grippy g10, and jimping literally everywhere, but the cutting edge is too short for me, i like longer blades

The Manix 2 is a great knife. And I just got the foliage green sprint run last week so they are still available if you like it. I would still rather have the 950.

Sorry about bad pic. Had to take it inside because it was raining.

I own a few Benchmades, but I do carry a Military daily. I have a 950 on the way too, thanks to FMB here twisting my arm in such a subtle way and all ;)
I'll carry it for a couple weeks and see what it's like. I like the simplicity of a liner lock and the Spyderhole because over the last 15 or so years that is what I have grown accustomed to. You really cannot go wrong with either.

Those are like 2 of the best folders in that price range. Couldn't imagine you being disappointed with either one. I think the 950 has a considerably stronger tip, but as far as which one's more comfortable, you'll have to put each one in your pocket, and each one in your hand to decide that. Different hands fit different knives.

 I agree. I have both and will keep and use both. My 950 is just a plain off-the-rack G10 & 154CM Rift, but IMAO it's the best (for ergos & cutting ability) of the current BM labeled knives... almost as good as my 14205.

My Militaries and Paramillies are my timex knives... they take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.
